Landon McKinnis has brought innovation to the world of personal grooming by introducing a revolutionary handheld hair trimmer unlike any other on the market. Apart from making things efficient and convenient, Go Nutz is specifically designed to provide precise shaving and safety from random nicks. Emphasizing all these features and much more, the founder and creator of Go Nutz pitched his business in front of the Sharks in the 17th episode of ABC’s ‘Shark Tank’ season 16, hoping to get at least one of the Sharks on board and take the company to newer heights.
Go Nutz: Who Are They and What Do They Do?
Landon McKinnis, the genius behind Go Nutz, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Kansas. He also earned his Associate’s degree in the same discipline from Fort Scott Community College. In August 2012, he started his professional career as the Head of Security/VIP Liaison at RPM Italian in the Greater Chicago Area, Illinois. Simultaneously, he served as a Senior Associate at Growth Equity Group from July 2014 to January 2017. In 2015, he co-founded Rekt Nation Inc. in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, and was an integral part of the board of directors until 2019.
With several years of experience under his belt, Landon also became the Skip Tracer Manager at AMI Asset Management Inc. for five years, from 2017 to 2022. Starting from October 2024, he has also been associated with Royal Real Estate Solutions in the capacity of an Acquisition Manager. It was in 2018 when he founded Private Grooming Inc., under which he launched the flagship product, Go Nutz, in an attempt to revolutionize the way people trim body hair. It started as an idea in his head that Landon ensured to write down on a piece of paper before making it his mission to bring it to life.
Landon’s path to making his vision a reality has been marred with challenges, but it was his sheer determination and hard work that helped him iron out all the hurdles along the way. The first step to the unique journey was the application for the patent and registering the trademark, which went on for about 2-3 years. Then came the conception of the prototype, for which he collaborated with designers to convert his sketch into a first-rate 3D model. After multiple alterations and reworks, Landon finally had a prototype and began to look for manufacturers to start production. Though the comprehensive cost had surpassed $250,000, he was certain that all of it wouldn’t go in vain in the long run.
Landon takes a lot of pride in the spherical, ergonomic shape of his product, as he believes it truly gives a smooth, multi-directional shave as opposed to the traditional up-and-down trimmers available in the market. Its compact design makes it easy to reach sensitive areas, while the internal foil blade system provides a close shave with no risks of cuts. In addition, the interchangeable attachments are perfect for trimming down varying hair lengths. It boasts a self-charging battery that doesn’t drain out before 2.5 hours, you just have to place it in the charging dock to recharge it. Not just that, it is also waterproof, which makes the experience far more convenient and safe in the shower.
Go Nutz: Where Are They Now?
Since its launch in 2023, Go Nutz has garnered immense support and positive reception from its customers. Its unique patented design and internal blade have indeed made it unique, thus helping it stand out among other trimmers in the market as far as user-friendly factors are concerned. Customers have also appreciated the comfort that the multiple attachments provide by catering to different hair lengths. In the second week of March 2025, Landon and his team represented Go Nutz at the first annual Go Further Initiative Inc. Pickleball tournament at SERV. The not-for-profit organization works towards nurturing the physical and mental health of frontline workers, military personnel, and veterans. Alongside other companies, Go Nutz helped raise over $9,500 for the thoughtful cause.
While Landon keeps introducing the trimmer in his cheeky yet informative style, Go Nutz has also collaborated with popular figures such as Ben Rothwell, the BKFC Heavyweight World Champion. As of writing, the Go Nutz 2.0 Trimming Device (Version 2.0) is available for purchase at a 25% discounted rate of $89.99. The set comprises the Go Nutz Shaver, two detachable heads, a cleaning brush, oil, a charging dock and cord, as well as a travel sack (called “Ball Sack”). It also comes with a 60-day warranty. At a discounted price of $71.00, you can also pre-order Go Nutz Bare, the trimming device that’s specially designed for women.
For those looking to buy the accessories separately, you can get your hands on the Go Nutz 3 Head Attachment for $19.99, Go Nutz Charging Base for $39.99, Accessory Kit (USB-C charger, cleaning brush and oil) for $4.99, Single Head Attachment for $19.99, and the travel sack AKA “Ball Sack” for $4.99. Aside from providing a satisfying shave, Go Nutz is also focused on promoting sustainability by serving as an environmentally friendly alternative to disposable razors. From what we can tell, the company might be gearing up for some cool and innovative launches. Taking into consideration its commitment to quality, passion to “revolutionize the personal grooming industry,” and the positive reviews from users over the years, Go Nutz seems to be on track to achieve newer heights sooner than one would expect.
