Hailey Sisco Recorded Conversations With Her Mother, Hoping to Get a Confession
In 1985, Michael “Mike” Sisco and Dana Chandler welcomed their first child, Hailey Sisco, about three years into their marriage. A couple of years later, Hailey became an older sister as Dustin Sisco was born. Over the following years, Mike and Dana started growing apart, eventually leading to their divorce in the 1990s. Following the separation, Mike was granted full legal custody of Hailey and her brother, as the court deemed him a more stable parent. Meanwhile, Dana had to pay child support. Since Hailey was primarily raised by her father in a happy environment, she developed a close-knit bond with him despite their fair share of differences over the years.
When she was just 17 years old, Hailey’s worst nightmare turned into reality when Mike and his loving fiancée, Karen Harkness, were killed on July 7, 2002. As the investigation intensified, the detectives zeroed in on Dana Chandler, who was the prime suspect. Both of her children also suspected their mother of being responsible for the double homicide. In order to help with the investigation, potentially gather incriminating evidence against Dana, and uncover the real truth, Hailey began recording her conversations with her from 2005. Ultimately, in the summer of 2011, Dana was arrested and charged in connection with the double homicide.
After Testifying Against Her Mother, Hailey Sisco Seel Prefers to Keep Her Personal Life Under Wraps
Due to many complications in the case, Dana Chandler was tried three times. Her first trial had resulted in a conviction in 2012, but it was overturned a few years later. Her second trial resulted in a hung jury, with 7 members voting to convict and 5 to acquit. So, she faced a third trial in 2025. In all three trials, Hailey was an active participant, testifying in detail against her mother. On February 20, 2025, she took the stand in Dana’s third trial and was cross-examined by the defendant herself, who had decided to represent herself. Hailey emphasized how stressful and difficult her parents’ relationship eventually became, highlighting her mother’s alleged argumentative tone, alcohol abuse, and obsessive behavior.
With text messages and e-mails serving as evidence, Hailey also claimed that the defendant frequently criticized her and her brother Dustin for every little thing. She further added that Dana used to take them to watch Mike and Karen’s houses multiple times during her court-appointed visitation. At the stand, she claimed that her mother even accused Karen of being a homewrecker and often referred to her using derogatory terms like “s**t,” “w***e,” etc. The recorded phone calls and conversations between the mother and the daughter were also played in the court.
After Dana’s conviction and sentencing in 2025, it appears as if Hailey has chosen to distance herself from the spotlight and lead a rather private life. She prefers to keep the details of her personal as well as professional experiences well away from the public eye for privacy reasons. Therefore, all we know for certain is that she currently leads a peaceful life in Kansas with her high school sweetheart-turned-husband, Chris Seel, and their three adorable children. They are all outdoor and travel enthusiasts, so they make sure to spend a lot of quality time together as a family in places where they can feel close to nature, as well as to those they have lost. We should also mention that it seems she and her brother Dustin have managed to maintain a close relationship to this day.
