Hallmark Orders Michael Robison’s Lift To Love; Starts Filming in October in Vancouver

Hallmark is bringing us a fairy-tale cab ride! The channel has conceived Michael Robison’s ‘Lift To Love,’ which will begin filming in Vancouver in October.

The plot of the movie centers on a ride-share driver who, on Valentine’s Day, stumbles upon a misplaced diamond ring left behind by a passenger. Along with one of his riders, he embarks on a quest to track down the ring’s rightful owner. As they journey together, an unexpected romance begins to blossom between them.

Robison is well-acquainted with Hallmark productions, having recently directed ‘Family Practice Mysteries: Coming Home’ and ‘Come Fly with Me’ for the channel. Prior to these projects, he worked on ‘Love’s Greek to Me,’ which follows Ilana as she travels to Santorini with her Greek boyfriend, Mike, for a family wedding. When he unexpectedly proposes, Ilana finds herself navigating the challenges posed by his enthusiastic mother.

Before that, he directed ‘The Blessing Bracelet,’ a story centered around a woman who rediscovers a meaningful bracelet as Easter approaches, rekindling her faith and belief in love. Robison also helmed ‘A Picture of Her,’ where Beth, after becoming the cover subject of a prestigious magazine, embarks on a journey to locate the photographer who captured her image. This storyline echoes elements of ‘Lift To Love,’ as both involve the quest for a stranger and the growth of romantic feelings along the way.

More on the upcoming Hallmark slate is the network’s continued collaboration with director Jeff Beesley. Hallmark had greenlit his latest project, ‘Following Yonder Years,’ set to begin filming in Winnipeg this October. The story follows Abby Marshall, a famous actress known for her role as Gabriella on the hit series ‘Guiding Grace.’ Feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to live up to her character’s perfect image, Abby retreats to a quiet Vermont town. There, she helps with a Christmas pageant and reconnects with what truly matters, guided by the innkeeper, Tom, and the local community.

Vancouver is the unofficial hometown of Hallmark, given the number of projects it hosts for the production. Recent ones stemming from the city include ‘Falling Together’ and ‘Junebug.’
