Haunted Hotel Plot Synopsis

The series introduces Katherine and her kids, Ben and Esther. She owns a hotel called the Undervale, which she acquired from her dead brother, Nathan, whose ghost still talks to her. The hotel is revealed to be no ordinary place, but a building full of secrets, ghosts, and demons who have been haunting it for a long time. Despite knowing the truth, Katherine hopes to keep the hotel running, which is also her family’s residence. She seeks help from an exorcist to eliminate the demonic and supernatural entities, but finds it difficult to let go of her brother, who would also be subject to the exorcism. Her kids are curious about spooky elements and show no hesitation in facing their haunted reality.

Ben develops a relationship with a ghost named Annabelle, and the exorcism is unsuccessful as Nathan and his ghost buddies manage to use the boy as a conduit to return to the hotel. A power outage leads Nathan, Ben, and their demon friend, Abaddon, into the nearby forest, where they get attacked by ghosts, but they manage to handle them after finding Josiah Banquest’s diary. Days later, Katherine goes on a date with a man named Joel, but the hotel is attacked by the “Pillowcase Killer,” who targets sexually active people as a means of getting over his sexual insecurities and trauma related to his parents. He is then comforted by Nathan and Esther, which stops his violence. Following this, the gang goes on to face a new threat at Undervale after discovering a mutilated deer on the porch.

Abaddon undergoes a crisis as he becomes more violent, but Katherine tries to help him out by taking him on rides in her car, and later locks him up in the attic to control him. The honeymoon suite at the hotel mysteriously communicates with Katherine by giving her chocolate, and Esther uses creatures called Rollyfluffs to become popular at her school. However, the creatures turn out to be dangerous and attack the students, but Esther plays the harmonica to get them synchronized and fly away. The honeymoon suite turns dangerous, but Katherine escapes unharmed. A magical diary communicates with Ben about his relationship issues with Annabelle. At the same time, a filmmaking crew shoots a spooky episode in the hotel. An entity called the Squirrel causes some trouble during the shoot, but is handled eventually.

A few days later, Ben has a mental health crisis, which leads to the creation of seven different versions of him, each representing a different human emotion. When he overcomes his emotional troubles through his mother’s help, the versions disappear. Aunt Rose, an annoying relative of Katherine, expresses a strange desire to become a ghost after her death. Esther becomes obsessed with the art of raising a man named Dan from the dead in order to fill the emotional void left by her absentee father. In a shocking twist, Nathan finds out from his sister that he actually died due to suicide, a memory he had chosen to repress. When soul demons appear to take control of the humans in the hotel, Abaddon uses a haunted snow globe to drive them away.

Haunted Hotel Ending: Why Did the Acolytes Target Abaddon?

Strange visitors arrive at the Undervale wearing red cloaks, seemingly hiding something evil. At first, Katherine confronts the so-called leader of the group, named Todd, and says that she isn’t scared of whatever they have planned. Todd reveals that they are a group of individuals who are a cult, but they are also a non-profit group. After checking in, an old cult member looks for someone, but doesn’t find him. When Abaddon arrives, all the cultists bow down to him and proclaim him “The Child” and “The Lord.” Todd claims that his group is called “The Acolytes of Abaddon,” and that they consider the demon Abaddon to be their king. It is revealed that the cult spent many years looking for their savior in order to fulfill a prophecy, and that spirit channeling confirmed that Abaddon was bound to a mortal form.

The leader says they found Abaddon due to internet videos and are there to take him home. When Esther speculates that home could mean hell, Todd says that Abaddon is the lock and the group is the key. The demon is surprised at first, but eventually expresses happiness when he learns that he will get to travel to the realm to which he belongs. The cultists then get their lord ready for a specific ritual and size him up for a robe and a crown. When Katherine asks the cultists if the ceremony will lead to death, they sarcastically smile, saying that it won’t. Nathan is given the rank of “Woodsman,” which credits his role in lifting Abaddon up from the grave. Ben is given the Candle of Provocation, which supposedly gives him a high rank in the cult.

When Abaddon arrives at the ritual site with a crown shaped like antlers and a cult dress, the cultists begin to happily cry. Todd begins the ceremony by addressing Abaddon as the demon god, and later asks one of the cultists to slash him to death. As Todd dies, his blood sacrifice lifts Abaddon up, which begins the apocalypse. It is revealed that the Acolytes were secretly trying to bring home to Abaddon and not the other way round, which means that the apocalypse will destroy the planet and transport hell to the human world.

How Does Abaddon Stop the Apocalypse? Why?

Abaddon becomes the central piece of a brutal ritual and finds himself being lifted off the ground after Todd’s sacrifice. This is the moment the apocalypse starts, and the ground starts cracking open. Fire starts raining down on the planet, and destruction ensues, bringing the human world close to extinction. When a meteor is about to hit the family, Abaddon stops it and reveals his restored powers. He is able to fly and also gains telekinetic and teleportation powers. This happens due to the ritual being completed successfully by Todd’s death. He tries his best to dodge and deflect all the meteors and lava headed towards the Undervale, but isn’t able to contain the chaos. Katherine and her family try to run away, but eventually fall into a deadly pit of lava, which leads to their end.

Abaddon realizes that the apocalypse cannot be stopped, and almost gives up hope. It is at this moment that he remembers the strange relic he found earlier. The circular relic had enabled him earlier to send a water bill paper to the dawn of time. He uses this mysterious relic to transport himself back in time. The demon voyages across different periods of human history, ranging from the era of dinosaurs to the era of kings. Through this elaborate time travel, he is able to go back to the moment right before Todd’s life was sacrificed. Instead of letting one of the cultists kill Todd, the demon kills him, which still causes the apocalypse since Todd’s death is the main cause of it. Abaddon realizes that he must prevent Todd’s ritualistic death to stop the apocalypse.

The demon uses the relic to time-travel multiple times to the moment before Todd’s death, but he isn’t able to stop the apocalypse. He then travels back to the moment the cultists arrived at the Undevale. He greets the old cultist and attacks him, following which he goes to the bus housing the other members of the cult, and proceeds to injure them one after the other. This scares the cult away, which finally stops the apocalypse from starting. Despite the threats posed by the Acolytes, Abaddon manages to save the world from annihilation.

Will Abaddon Get His Powers Back? Will Esther Help Him?

After stopping the apocalypse by using time-travel, Abaddon realizes that he has given up his chance to regain his powers. It is revealed that the apocalypse is the only way for the demon to have his powers restored. He should either choose his powers or choose to save Katherine’s family and humanity as a whole. He sacrifices his own powers to ensure the safety of the family that cares about him. He starts to think about whether there is a way to gain his powers without the apocalyptic destruction preceding it. However, it doesn’t appear to be possible. It can be presumed that there could be a discreet way to restore the demon’s supernatural powers without causing the apocalypse. This is where Esther could play a major role, as she is a brave girl who is curious about inexplicable phenomena.

Esther could possibly have an idea as to how Abaddon can do certain things to regain his power without depending on the Acolytes. Though it is too soon for Esther to have any specific knowledge about demonic powers, she could come across people or books that could tell her the ways in which Abaddon can be powerful again. It is also possible that the demon would probably choose not to have the abilities and simply continue to live his life with the family caring for him. Whether or not Abaddon regains his power depends on his intentions, his view of humanity, and his relationship with Katherine’s family.
