Haunted Hotel Season 2 Plot Synopsis

Days after the events of season 1, Katherine and her family continue to live in the Undervale, a haunted hotel next to a forest. The Undervale becomes profitable after a long time, due to the influx of customers and Katherine’s attempts to hide the ghosts. Katherine employs a woman named Catherine as the new employee. But Catherine cannot survive for long, given the supernatural phenomena in the hotel. Esther and Ben encounter a purple ooze substance, which leads to mind control and the summoning of an ancient evil. The purple ooze is defeated by Shayna, whose bloodline is connected to the ancient evil in mysterious ways. Shayna is a squatter who gains the trust of Katherine and family, who make her an employee of the Undervale. Ben becomes the hotel’s HR head and relishes the opportunity.
Abaddon and Esther constantly fight, despite their deep friendship. They find themselves in the basement of the hotel, where they are chased by an ancient creature called the Ceaseless Maw. Ben throws a party for his ghost girlfriend Annabelle, which ends up causing chaos. Annabelle breaks up with Ben after learning that he doesn’t want to marry her. Katherine, Ben, and Esther are trapped by a witch named Courtney after the children accidentally steal from her. Later, the witch mistakenly poisons Ben, feels guilty about doing so, and takes the family to the hospital. Strangely, the witch herself has serious health concerns and is treated by the doctors. Nathan talks about his afterlife to a ghost support group and gains perspective on his purpose as a ghost.

On a particularly odd day when ghosts are allowed to venture outside from the various buildings of the world, Nathan uses the opportunity to take a trip to the nearby town, accompanied by Esther. Nathan has a deep conversation with another ghost named Bridget, and the two share a kiss before returning to their respective residences. Ben helps a ghost named Randy become a heroic figure by staging an elaborate act in front of a group of boys. Esther takes part in a strange ritual that separates her soul from her body. Nathan, Ben, and Abaddon go fishing in a lake where mermaids are hiding. The mermaids attack the fishing party, but all three survive. Esther’s soul finds her hidden body after a long search with Katherine’s help and returns to the body.
A ghost hunter named Dante Crowe visits the Undervale to fight three world-ending omens who work for a female entity called Death. Dante impresses Katherine with his style and gunslinging. Abaddon goes to the woods to spend time alone, assessing the state of his existence. The ghost of a former owner of the Undervale talks to Katherine and tells her about the concierge’s hand. The concierge’s hand is locked within a hidden reception bell. Katherine unlocks the concierge’s hand, which helps her do all the chores with ease. However, the concierge hand also looks to control Katherine and refuses to be locked up again.

Eventually, Katherine is able to fight it with Ben’s help and lock it up again. After the death of the unnamed ghost mayor of the Undervale, Nathan runs for the position himself. But Nathan faces opposition from Dr. Slashface, a ghost who believes that the living shouldn’t be allowed inside the haunted hotel. Ultimately, Nathan reaches a point where he can become mayor, but chooses not to because of how demanding the job is. The black forest starts spreading and consuming the Undervale, placing Katherine and her family at risk.
Haunted Hotel Season 2 Ending: Does the Undervale Survive? How?

The Undervale becomes a battleground as Katherine, Nathan, Esther, Ben, and Abaddon fight the growth of the black forest. The black forest is revealed to be much more dangerous than originally believed, as it tries to overrun the Undervale with its trees. The forest also has monsters working for it, who attack Katherine and her family. As the trees keep growing through the floors and the walls of the hotel, Esther, Ben, and Abaddon run chaotically to somehow save themselves first before planning anything further. Katherine and Nathan hope to save the Undervale but are not quite sure how. The connection between the past and the present proves crucial in this fight, as Esther recalls something very important from her first visit to the hotel.
The demons keep chasing and attacking the family members, as uncertainty grows. Esther remembers the first time she and Ben crossed paths with Abaddon, when she assumed he was just a little boy. She also recalls how Abaddon destroyed pages of her cat fantasy book and tried to mend it. Most importantly, Esther’s mind goes back to exactly how she repaired it. In the past, she found an ancient magic book containing spells to repair broken objects. Using these spells, Esther was able to recover the pages of her cat fantasy book, making it whole again. Katherine also remembers something important from the past. She recalls reading a piece of parchment with rules about the preservation of the Undervale.

Katherine retrieves the parchment, which instructs her to feed life to the red lantern to resist the growth of the black forest. Now all she has to do is find the red lantern and feed some human blood to it, which will stop the menace of the forest. Still battling monsters, Esther, Ben, Nathan, Abaddon, and Katherine head towards the door of one of the rooms in the hotel. Pushing the door reveals nothing special, but pulling it reveals the red lantern hanging from the roof. Hearing monsters closing in, the family members rush inside and accidentally shatter the lantern. The only way to save themselves and the Undervale is to somehow bring the red lantern back to its original form. Esther recites the spells she used to repair the cat fantasy book in the past.
Miraculously, the spell works and the red lantern returns to its original form. As soon as the lantern starts working, Katherine takes her own bleeding hand and inserts it into the lantern, feeding blood. The red lantern glows red and stops the growth of the black forest instantly, thus saving the Undervale from destruction. If not for Katherine and Esther’s recollection of the past and quick thinking, the crisis may have been far worse. The Undervale survives, along with all its supernatural inhabitants, despite the threat from the forest.
What Happened in the Past? Why Did Katherine Hesitate to Leave Ron?
In the past, Katherine, Esther, and Ben visited the Undervale while Nathan was still a living man and not a ghost. Nathan welcomes them, and they are surprised to see how dilapidated the hotel is. Katherine helps Nathan fix the rooms, furniture, and other parts of the Undervale, while also talking about her marital issues. She tells Nathan that she and Ron will probably take a break, as Ron is careless and doesn’t really have his life in order. Nathan is sad to see Katherine going through these issues and hopes to help her out. Without her knowledge, Nathan calls Ron, who shows up unannounced at the Undervale. Though Katherine hesitates to tell him at first, she reveals that she wants to take a break from their relationship. However, Ron drives an ATV into the lake and convinces Katherine that he is ready to change.

Strangely enough, Katherine gives Ron a second chance. Meanwhile, Esther and Ben walk into the woods, where they encounter Abaddon and accidentally injure him. Abaddon reveals that he is a demon and cannot be harmed easily. Abaddon also develops a strange friendship with Esther and Ben after the cat fantasy book is restored. In the present, Katherine is separated from Ron, Nathan is a ghost, and Esther and Ben both share a bond with Abaddon. Thus, the past events still continue to influence the present in vivid ways.
Does Katherine Consider the Undervale Home? Why?

After saving the Undervale from the evil of the black forest, Katherine, Ben, Esther, Nathan, and Abaddon walk out with relief. All of them realize that the haunted hotel is important to them, despite the supernatural inhabitants it houses. Katherine now understands that the haunted hotel is her home, since she knows everyone there, shares a bond with her brother, and also gets along with her children. Katherine has also built an emotional bond with Abaddon, although he is a demon. She also commands respect as the owner of the hotel and communicates with the ghosts. As strange as the Undervale is, it gives Katherine a sense of belonging and purpose, which she struggles to find elsewhere. The Undervale continues to be home for Katherine and her family members.
