Healthy Italia on The Fixer: Update on the Italian Cooking Company

A business that aims to bring authentic Italian food to the tables of non-natives needs originality and deep-rooted tradition. Healthy Italia is one such venture that embodies these qualities for its customers.. The founder, Cristina Bossini, has made it her mission to import only the highest-quality Italian products and items one usually would not find in the US. The business’ dedication to quality and cultural integrity came into the spotlight when she appeared in season 1, episode 7 of Fox’s ‘The Fixer.’ It also provides the audience with a closer look at the challenges of the business and how the company strived to scale while staying true to its core values.

Healthy Italia: Who Are They and What Do They Do?

Before Healthy Italia came into the picture, the founder, Cristina Bossini, earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) focusing on Business Management in 2009 from Università degli Studi di Brescia, or University of Brescia. She then attained a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the same institution, focusing on Business Consulting and Professional Services in 2011. However, she stepped into her career in September 2006 as an Assistant Buyer for Bossini Bortolo & Figli Srl, where she served till July 2009. Four months later, she joined as an Intern at Studio Zanoletti Uberti, a role she held until January 2013. By September of the same year, Cristina became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Auditor at the studio. In February 2014, she left the role and came to the US to learn English because of her love for the language.

From February to July 2014, Cristina worked at American Opera Projects as an Arts Management Apprentice. She then became an Associate of Tax Services at Funaro & Co. The actual idea of Healthy Italia came into existence during that period. Cristina grew up in Italy and was a picky eater until she discovered a love for cooking and recipe development in adulthood. During a conversation with her father in 2014, he encouraged her to take advantage of being in a country with the most significant market to create something else besides her job. Ultimately, in November 2015, Cristina laid the foundation of Healthy Italia, still juggling her job. By March 2017, she had left her last role and had devoted herself entirely to the venture. Cristina’s consistent efforts helped generate around $110,000/month and $1.3 million/year in revenue.

When Cristina appeared on the show, she sought guidance on the next chapter of Healthy Italia from the investor, Marcus Lemonis. However, when he visited the business’ location in Madison, New Jersey, he found critical gaps: the venture had no clear merchandise plan or commercial structure. The brand also possessed an excess inventory buried in the basement. He advised her to liquidate the cash tied to it and use those funds in other areas. Together, they rebuilt the store, created a plan for opening a second store, and revamped the retail layout to boost customer conversions. Ultimately, Marcus offered her a position as the General Manager of a new concept, Our Table at Bed Bath & Beyond, with a $175,000 base salary, $175,000 bonus, and 10% equity in the venture.

Marcus offered Cristina the full retention of her ownership of Healthy Italia and asked for no equity. She accepted the deal, promoting Angela, the instructor of the cooking classes, to the Kitchen Head. Moreover, the Event Manager, Susan, stepped up as the Operations Manager. At the store of the venture, they serve customers the experience of cooking authentic Italian dishes through engaging cooking classes. They also offer frozen Italian cuisines made with top-quality Italian ingredients in their kitchen. Customers can also shop from a curated collection of authentic Italian products, like olive oil, pasta, balsamic vinegar, and many more. Some of their other services include private event hosting and catering. The shop also features a carefully selected range of kitchenware— knives, pots and pans, glassware, and silverware, among many others.

Healthy Italia: Where Are They Now?

Since reshaping the business with Marcus’ advice, Healthy Italia has flourished as a hub of Italian culture. The venture provides the customers with a cooking school experience, offering on-site Italian cooking classes guided by professional chefs. The classes can easily be booked online from their website, with the prices ranging from $150 to $300. The price is set based on the menu one is preparing, and it typically caters to a two-person group. Some of these classes include: A Night in Rome, Fresh Mozzarella Making Night!, Mini Pasta Workshop, and many more. Their cooking classes also offer Summer Camps for children aged 6 to 11 years and above. During these classes,  kids prepare simple Italian dishes from scratch under staff supervision, helping them learn kitchen skills, safety protocols, and equipment handling.

Each Summer Camp usually lasts a week and accommodates up to 16 participants. Healthy Italia offers its services for private and corporate events, like birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings, ladies’ night out, team building sessions, and so on. In this experience, the customers can prepare their three-course meal or the main dish from scratch with already provided ingredients. Their catering service features a detailed menu, which can easily be viewed on their website. If someone wants to buy their prepared food online, they can easily check the site, where they sell dishes like Traditional Lasagna, Chicken Soup, Roasted Sausage & Peppers, Stuffed Shells, and many more. These items can be available for purchase in the price range of $6.84 to $21.26.

Healthy Italia’s thoughtfully prepared Summer Time Meal Kit has weekly menus. Each kit costs $99 and contains an appetizer, an entree, a side dish, and a dessert, serving 4 to 5 people. Their online store also sells premium Italian products like pasta, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, rice, risotto & polenta, products in jars, and sweets, snacks and chocolate. Furthermore, the website also has an array of kitchenware products: pots & pans, knives, glassware, cook’s tools & accessories, melamine, and silverware. Customers can also choose to purchase their gift baskets, gift cards, and gift boxes. In February 2025, Healthy Italia was selected for a VIP happy hour cooking demo. From March 20-23, they gave their biggest spring sale, offering 50% off on everything in-store, excluding cooking classes and fresh prepared foods.

Due to popular demand, Healthy Italia held a pop-up class on April 4. The following month, they celebrated a significant milestone by celebrating nine years in business. They offered the customers 20% off all in-store products and cooking classes for the celebration. In the very same month, they collaborated with Melamine and Share & Pair Sundays to share one of their delicious recipes. On May 15, they hosted a ladies’ night, where attendees received a $10 in-store coupon and had a chance to win the brand’s basket. They collaborated with astrologist and psychic Giorgia Pecora in June. Most recently, in July 2025, Healthy Italia made its way to New York City to attend the Summer Fancy Food Show, further showcasing its commitment, growth, and authenticity through community engagement.
