Jason Porter, also known as Jace Parratti and Jace Perretti, is a convicted fraudster who has scammed several women over the course of the last decade and a half. One of the women who fell for his fake personality was Heather Rovet. The real estate agent makes an appearance in Amazon Prime’s ‘ROMCON: Who the F**k is Jason Porter?’ and recounts her experience with the con artist and how she played a critical role in getting him behind bars. The two-part docuseries also features interviews with other women who were conned by Jason.
Heather Rovet Helped Authorities Put Jason Porter Behind Bars
In 2018, Heather Rovet was visited by a contractor named Jace Parratti, with whom she connected romantically almost instantly. Over the course of the next few months and years, she introduced him to her family and friends, all of whom found him to be an ideal guy. Little did she know that he was a conman whose real name is Jason Porter. When the couple lived together in Aurora, Ontario, Heather found the truth about “the love of her life” and learned that he was a convicted criminal who was known for romantically deceiving women for the purpose of theft.

Thanks to Heather’s efforts to make him pay for scamming her and other women before her, he was charged with theft of over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. She provided the necessary evidence for his arrest in September 2021. Jason alleged that Heather was guilty of jury tampering as he claimed that she put flyers on the cars of the jurors. It didn’t help his case at all, as he was eventually convicted and sentenced to prison. Moreover, he was ordered to repay Heather’s mother for all the jewelry and valuable possessions he had stolen from her.
Heather Rovet is a Successful Real Estate Broker in Toronto
Apart from being associated with the conman, Jacob Porter, Heather Rovet is also known for being an experienced real estate broker. However, her path to success was not easy and devoid of obstructions. After earning her bachelor’s degree in International Development Studies from Dalhousie University in 1994, Heather attended the University of New Mexico the following year. Instead of getting into the real estate industry from the get-go, she pursued a career as a designer. From 2000 to 2003, she served as the founder and designer of Diva Digs Intimate Apparel. In fact, she also worked as an Assistant Costume Designer and Wardrobe Stylist independently for several years.
Meanwhile, Heather got into the real estate industry by working as a Sales Representative for multiple agencies, including Royal LePage Real Estate Services Ltd. Johnston & Daniel Division, Sage Real Estate, and Keller Williams Referred Urban Realty, Brokerage. Her career as a real estate broker started at ReaLawState, where she worked for nearly four years between 2016 and 2020. After that, she returned to Sage Real Estate, but this time as a broker. Having provided her skills for five years, she recently severed ties with the agency. Simultaneously, she had been employed at Real Broker, where she still works as a real estate agent. Given her background in film and TV, Heather tends to bring something new to the table and the industry altogether, which has paved the way for her to receive acclaim from The National Post, Inman News, and The Globe and Mail.
The Proud Dog Mom and Devoted Daughter Endured Two Huge Losses in 2024
Heather Rovet has always been a doting dog mom. Her world revolved around her furry baby, Baxter. Starting her morning with a walk and coming home from work to don her pyjamas and cuddle with him had always been the best part of her day. However, things took an unfortunate turn in July 2024 when her ride-or-die crossed the rainbow bridge, breaking their companionship of over seven wholesome years. Reeling from the heavy loss, Heather gave a tribute to her “peanut butter nut squash” on Instagram, sharing just how crushed and heavy her heart felt post Baxter’s passing. “You were my biggest source of comfort in my darkest days. You got me through the hard times and we had so many good times,” she wrote, in part. She added, “The end came so unexpectedly fast and I pray you hadn’t been silently suffering for long.”
Heather grieved Baxter’s passing in the ways she deemed best. Although she misses Baxy every day, she wouldn’t trade the time she got to spend with him for anything. She often reminisces on all the fun they had and the beautiful memories she created with the precious little one. On her trip to Europe in September, Heather acknowledged her yearning for a furry pal and logged onto Pet Finder to adopt one that would make her life whole again. A month later, tragedy struck her life again when she lost her beloved father. While nothing could fill the void left by the two most important beings in her world, she fastened her search for a lovable pup, especially since her father was an animal lover too. That’s when she adopted Tommy, who moved to Ontario from Cairo and packed Heather’s life with joy and love again.
Opening up about the adorable addition to her family, she expressed, “In some ways, bringing Tommy into my life feels like the best way to carry on the connection to animals my dad always had.” The real estate agent further revealed, “Also, my dad was adopted, his early years read like a Dickens novel. By adopting a dog (or re-homing in Baxter’s case), it’s another way of honouring my dad. 😇” Family has always been integral to Heather’s life, and now that she has her baby Tommy with her to brighten up her days and comfort her at nights, she seems truly content and can’t ask for anything more.
Heather Rovet is Grateful For the Loving and Supportive People in Her Life
Just like her professional career, Heather Rovet efficiently balances the aspects of her personal life, too. It does appear that she is currently single and focusing on herself, furthering her career and strengthening her bond with her close-knit circle of family and friends. Taking into consideration what she endured due to Jason’s scheming ways, the apparent absence of a romantic partner in her life is understandable. On International Women’s Day in March 2024, she got candid about trauma and healing on her social media account. She reminded everyone that while the traumatic event did make her feel hopeless at times, she overcame it as she had promised herself that she would find power over adversities and grow as an individual.
Heather hugely credits the love, support, and care from the right people, including other women survivors she calls her “angel network,” who really helped her in her healing journey and motivated her to carry on and embrace new avenues and possibilities life had in store for her. She is a staunch advocate of Fraud prevention and regularly raises awareness for Domestic/Intimate Partner violence and other atrocities. In April, she attended the debate for the passing of Bill 173 – the Intimate Partner Violence Epidemic Act, 2024, at Queen’s Park and shed light on its importance. When not standing up for the causes she believes in or showcasing beautiful properties as part of her job, Heather can be spotted hanging out with her family and friends.
The travel enthusiast often takes trips to rejuvenate. In September 2024, she embarked on a trip to Europe with her dear friend, Carolyn Romanelli Maze. While touring through London, Sardinia, Tunisia, and other stunning cities, the two explored the local cuisine, visited the popular attractions, as well as experienced the rich culture and history. As of writing, Heather leads a fulfilling life in the neighborhood of Yonge + St. Clair in the heart of midtown Toronto, surrounded by the heartwarming presence of her furry baby, Tommy, as well as the people she adores and who treasure her.
