Heidi Broussard Had Given Birth to a Daughter Days Before She Went Missing
Heidi Elizabeth Broussard was born on June 15, 1984, to Tammy Bostick and Roger David Broussard. She spent her childhood in Cameron and attended LaGrange High School. Heidi was known for her cheerful personality and warm nature, quickly becoming a close friend to almost everyone she met. Those around her often spoke about how easily she found a place in people’s hearts. After graduating in 2004, Heidi worked as a waitress to support herself. In 2013, she welcomed her son, Silas Tyson, into her life. It was one of the happiest experiences she had ever known. More joy followed in the years ahead, and by 2015, Heidi had moved to Austin, where she became engaged to Shane Carey.
Heidi had been working at Cracker Barrel, though her true dream was to build a career as a veterinary technician. On November 26, 2019, Heidi expanded her family by welcoming her daughter, Margo Carey, into the world. Friends and loved ones said she was overjoyed. However, only days later, Heidi and her newborn daughter were reported missing by Shane. Heidi had last been seen on the morning of December 12, 2019, after dropping her son off at Cowan Elementary School. On December 19, 2019, Heidi’s remains were discovered inside a duffel bag in the trunk of a car in Jersey Village near Houston. An autopsy later determined that her cause of death was ligature strangulation.
Heidi Broussard’s Killer Had Kept Her Newborn Daughter With Herself
When Heidi Elizabeth Broussard was reported missing on December 12, 2019, the first person police examined closely was Shane Carey, as is common in many such investigations. However, Shane fully cooperated with detectives and had a solid alibi, which quickly shifted investigators’ attention elsewhere. Police then began looking into people who were especially close to Heidi, which led them to Magen Fieramusca. The two women had been childhood friends and had remained close for decades. In fact, in 2019, when Heidi announced her pregnancy, Magen also claimed to be expecting a child, and the pair spent considerable time together while preparing for motherhood. Detectives also spoke with Shane, who told them that Magen had recently announced her own pregnancy and claimed that she had given birth to a daughter just days earlier, despite never sharing any photographs of the baby.
Investigators also interviewed a neighbor who reported seeing Heidi return home early on the morning of December 12 with baby Margo. According to the witness, Heidi was later seen getting into a silver Nissan Versa, the same type of car owned by Magen. This detail immediately raised suspicions among investigators. Police later gained access to Magen’s Google account, where several alarming searches related to Amber Alerts and Heidi appeared. Authorities also discovered that Magen’s cell phone and GPS data placed her near her friend’s home on the day she was last seen. Investigators eventually tracked Magen to her residence near Houston, where she was living with her boyfriend, Christopher Green.
On December 19, 2019, officers followed Christopher, who had gone out to purchase baby supplies, when detectives approached him and showed him a photograph of Margo. Christopher identified the infant as the baby living at his home, believing her to be his and Magen’s daughter. He told investigators that he had been at work when Magen supposedly gave birth and that she had later brought the baby home on her own. Police accompanied Christopher back to the residence, where they found baby Margo alive inside the house. Detectives then executed a search warrant, and during the search, they discovered the remains of Heidi inside a duffel bag located in the trunk of a vehicle. Investigators concluded that Magen had faked her pregnancy as part of a plan to steal her longtime friend’s baby after killing her. She was subsequently charged with capital murder.
Magen Fieramusca is in a Texas Prison Today
Magen Fieramusca was indicted in 2020 on charges of capital murder, along with kidnapping and tampering with a corpse/body allegations. In February 2023, she pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 55 years behind bars. As a part of her plea, she also waived her right to appeal. She is now being held at the William P. Hobby Unit in Marlin, Texas. The 40-year-old killer will be eligible for parole in 2047, and the earliest date of her release has been set for 2074.
