Who is Henry Sickler? What Happened to His Face and Hands? Who Plays Him?

In Apple TV+’s ‘The Last Frontier,’ a plane full of dangerous criminals crashes over a remote Alaskan town, throwing the place into chaos. US Marshal Frank Remnick is put in charge of bringing the convicts back, almost all of whom are ready to do whatever it takes to keep their freedom. However, there is one who has other plans. In the second episode, one of the escaped criminals, named Henry Sickler, ends up in front of a car with a woman and her three children. Any other criminal would have run away or attacked the woman and her children to use them as leverage for his escape. Henry, however, surrenders himself, and the more time he spends in the cell, the more it becomes clear that there is a storm brewing behind his calm exterior. SPOILERS AHEAD.

Henry Sickler Paid a Terrible Price for His Crimes

Henry Sickler is treated as just another criminal, until Havlock, the main target of the investigation, demands the passenger in seat 12A of the crashed plane in return for Frank Remnick’s abducted wife. Henry is the said passenger, and it piques the interest of Frank and Sidney, the CIA agent sent to help catch Havlock, about why Henry was singled out. A quick background check reveals that he has a history of working for criminal organizations and committing security fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. Apart from this, he also audited the accounts of organizations to determine if anyone was stealing money from them. Ironically, he himself began stealing from them, and eventually, when they discovered his actions, they decided to hold him accountable.

For his transgression, Henry was burned alive by his criminal bosses. However, he survived. He spent a month in a coma, and his lower arms had to be amputated to prevent his condition from getting worse. While he survived, he knew that his former bosses wouldn’t stop hounding him. The only way to save himself was by testifying against them, which would lead to their arrest. Henry also knew that he couldn’t return to a life of crime, so as part of the deal he made with the Department of Justice, he would be sent into witness protection, where he would have another chance to start a new life. He was on his way to this new chapter, until the plane crashed. As to why Havlock specifically asked for him, he has no idea because he has neither met nor heard of this name before. Or so he claims.

Prince Amponsah Brings Forth the Deceptive Nature of Henry Sickler

The role of Henry Sickler in ‘The Last Frontier’ is played by Prince Amponsah. The Ghanaian-Canadian actor graduated in theatre from George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario. He appeared in ‘Born Yesterday’ and ‘Brief Encounters’ at the Shaw Festival, and while his acting career was on the rise, he worked part-time to provide for his family. On November 12, 2012, tragedy struck when his apartment caught on fire due to an electrical issue. 27-year-old Prince was saved by his roommate, who dragged him out of the burning building. He was rushed to the hospital after sustaining burns on 68 percent of his body.

Henry’s lungs were damaged, and to prevent infection from spreading, the doctors had to amputate part of his right forearm and a majority of his left hand. After 40 surgeries over the course of nine months, Prince spent 18 months in rehabilitation at St. John’s Rehab, during which time he also received a prosthesis for his left arm. Apart from the physical challenges, the recovery also focused on his mental and emotional state. With no intention of returning to acting, he turned towards social work. However, soon a script for a theatre production was brought to him, and he related so well to the role that he decided to take it on. He had to overcome his fear and anxiety to get back on the stage, but once he did, he realized that his love for acting was not going anywhere, and he wanted to get back into it.

Continuing his acting journey, Henry took on theatrical projects like ‘The Changeling’ and ‘After the Blackout,’ while also appearing in TV shows like ‘Station Eleven,’ ‘Beacon 23,’ ‘Titans,’ ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ ‘Killjoys,’ and ‘Avocado Toast.’ He also took the lead in Jamie Miller’s documentary short, ‘Prince’s Tale.’ The Best Supporting Actor at the Canadian Screen Awards nominee is also set to appear in satirical horror drama, ‘How Dare You.’ Apart from acting, he engages in public speaking and motivates others to achieve success through his inspiring story. In his free time, he likes traveling, reading books, watching movies, and spending time with his friends and loved ones. He also enjoys going on long walks, especially with his beloved furry friend, Siri.
