Based on the eponymous 2020 novel by Alice Feeney, Netflix’s ‘His & Hers’ is a crime drama series that revolves around two estranged spouses — Anna and Jack Harper. The former is a struggling journalist, while the latter is a detective. As Anna decides to lead a secluded life, it disrupts not only her journalistic career but also negatively impacts her social life. However, when a mysterious murder case takes over her otherwise quaint hometown, Dahlonega, she finds herself investigating the case. When the detective learns that she is inserting himself into the investigation, Jack grows suspicious about her and deems her a possible suspect.
Meanwhile, Anna suspects that her estranged partner is hiding something significantly related to the case. Despite sharing the same objective, they clash, which affects their respective investigations. Developed by William Oldroyd, the psychological thriller show features compelling performances from Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal, Pablo Schreiber, Marin Ireland, Sunita Mani, Rebecca Rittenhouse, and Crystal Fox. Most of the story unfolds in the heat of the town of Dahlonega and the city of Atlanta, both of which provide contrasting visuals and shape the narrative in their own ways.
His & Hers Filming Locations
The shooting for ‘His & Hers’ was conducted in Georgia, particularly in Metro Atlanta and Lumpkin County. According to reports, principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the crime series got underway in September 2024 and went on for about three months before wrapping up in December of the same year. Upon the conclusion of the shooting, Tessa Thompson, who portrays Anna, took to social media and shared her experience during production. Expressing her affection for the team, she wrote, “That’s a wrap on His & Hers. Truly ~ the absolute most stellar cast & crew that I will miss dearly. They killed it.”
Metro Atlanta, Georgia
The shooting of ‘His & Hers’ was conducted in several spots across Metro Atlanta in Georgia. The cast and crew settled on Atlanta, the capital city of the Peach State, to film several sequences. Owing to its diverse landscape, Southern charm, state-of-the-art production studios, easy availability of skilled technicians, a talented pool of actors, numerous production-friendly services, as well as lucrative tax incentives, it has established itself as a prominent filming destination across the globe. Often dubbed the Hollywood of the South, Atlanta proved to be an ideal spot to paint the visual canvas of the Netflix production.
In October 2024, they also traveled east of downtown Atlanta and settled in the town of Conyers, in Rockdale County, to tape a few scenes. Not far from Atlanta, Stone Mountain in DeKalb County was also chosen as one of the shooting locations. In particular, the filming took place at Eagle Rock Studios in the city. The production complex is situated at 1375 Beverage Drive S2 and comprises two sound stages, each approximately 37,000 square feet in size. Aside from the studio facility, Stone Mountain has hosted the production of a variety of movies and television shows over the years, such as ‘Prisoners,’ ‘Smokey and the Bandit,’ ‘Damaged Goods,’ ‘The Front Runner,’ and ‘Killing Season.’
Lumpkin County, Georgia
For the purpose of filming, the production team of ‘His & Hers’ also visited Lumpkin County in the northeastern part of Georgia. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the quaint town of Dahlonega served as the spot where shooting was carried out for many days. In the area, the crew taped key scenes on downtown North Chestatee Street and Damascus Church Road. Additional filming was reportedly done in and around Damascus Church Road, which runs between Lewis School Road and John Crow Road. The local authorities, as well as locals, offered immense support to prevent issues related to traffic and detours. Movement on the said portion of the roads was reportedly restricted until the shooting was wrapped up in the area. To support the locals and encourage their cooperation, the team placed signage and provided information related to detours.
