When Holly Lynn Bobo disappeared from her home on the morning of April 13, 2011, it was a shock to the entire community of Darden, Tennessee. The 20-year-old was found dead over 3 years later in September 2014, not long after which her assailants were brought to justice with trials and plea deals. As explored in ABC’s ’20/20: A Deadly Storm,’ her loved ones were the loudest voices to fight for justice for her, especially her mother Karen, father Dana, and brother Clint.
Holly Bobo Hailed From a Loving, Tight-Knit Family
Holly Lynn Bobo was born on October 12, 1990, to Karen Bobo and Dana Bobo as the younger of their two children. She thus grew up surrounded by affection, care, and support, alongside her 5-year-older brother Clint Bobo. All 4 of them were always very tight-knit, spending a lot of their free time together in the home Dana built with his own two hands. Their home was a single-story 3-bedroom place near the edge of the woods, offering them plenty of quiet and the true beauty of country living.

According to records, the Bobos were always very dedicated to the community, so it was through the parents that the young ones developed a passion for service and local aid. In fact, by the time 2011 rolled around, Clint was pursuing studies to be a social worker, whereas 20-year-old Holly was a nursing student at the University of Tennessee at Martin at The Parsons Center in Parsons. It’s also imperative to note that Holly shared a particularly close bond with her mother, often going out on girls’ dates, talking about boys, and dabbling in their shared passion for singing. They essentially did it all together, so it was no surprise that the 2 college students also lived with family to save needless costs.
Holly Bobo’s Family Left No Stone Unturned in Their Search For Her
The morning of April 13, 2011, was unlike any other for the Bobos, but things changed when a neighbor heard a scream coming from their home at around 7:45 am. Clint hadn’t heard the scream since he was still sleeping, but she awoke a few minutes later to the family dog’s incessant barking. He initially believed his sister was with her long-term boyfriend, Derek Scott, and since he was still groggy, he couldn’t comprehend what was happening. Even when Karen called him and let her know the man was a stranger and that he needed to shoot him, he asserted it didn’t register until it was too late.

Clint had seen Holly walking into the woods with a man wearing camouflage, so he described him as possibly 5’10”-5’11” and weighing 250 pounds. He was also the one to call 911 after discovering two small bloodstains in their carport, with Karen doing the same on her way home from work. Therefore, by 8:30 am on the fateful day, the search for Holly had officially begun, with Clint being questioned several times as the last person to see his sister alive.
Clint also stood strong when speculation began that he might not be telling the entire truth, with his parents also siding with him in every sense of the term. They understood he wasn’t clearheaded as he had just woken up, as per the ’20/20′ episode, so they understood his delayed, strange reactions. Karen and Dana also never hesitated to give interviews and to appeal to the public for any information they might have, because they wanted the case to remain significant for years to come. They hoped to garner enough traction to lead to arrests, and it did in March 2014 on their wedding evening.

While nothing can ever bring back Holly, Karen, Dana, and Clint were glad when her assailants were arrested in 2014 and then started facing court in 2017. Karen testified for the prosecution at the trial, breaking down on the stand as she tried to detail just how much Holly meant to her. Dana also testified, with Clint following suit, both painting a clear picture of how kind Holly was and how she was the apple of everyone’s eyes. Later on, they also gave victim impact statements to highlight how they had lost not only Holly but also their happiness and peace when the crime was committed.

Since then, finally breathing a sigh of relief, Karen, Dana, and Clint have seemingly been trying to move forward in their lives to the best of their abilities. However, from what we can tell, they continued to reside in Darden, Tennessee, where Karen continues to work as a schoolteacher, and Dana is a former owner of his own excavation business. As for Clint, it appears as if he is living his childhood dreams as a social worker, dedicating himself to helping people in his community in every way. Honestly, they prefer to keep the details of their regular experiences away from the limelight as of writing, focusing purely on moving forward while keeping the memories of those they lost alive in their hearts.
