House 89 and its Residents Become Lhan’s Greatest Strength in Her War Against Formidable Foes
House 89 is a fictional entity that is at the core of the story, altering the fates of several characters. Though it operates under the garb of a furniture store, it is actually a house whose residents are all trained assassins. Lhan is taken in by the House after its members realize that she is a valuable asset deserving of protection. There is no evidence of such assassin houses actually existing in Thailand. The narrative utilizes the spaces of the House to shed light on the ways in which assassins operate and the discretion that they have to maintain to be successful and remain hidden from the outside world. House 89 is also an entity with no opposing assassin houses that seek to dominate the underworld. Through the House, the movie delves into the idea of found family and loyalty.
She finds people who are willing to sacrifice their lives to save her from emerging threats. The interiors of the House add a sense of intensity to the film through their dark and mysterious corners. House 89 is not just a physical space, but an extension of Lhan’s character arc. Just as the viewers discover the secrets of the underworld through the House, Lhan also does the same. House 89 appears to be just a big furniture shop for those looking on from the outside.
