It was in 2022 when everything turned upside down for internet personality Piper Rockelle as 11 of her former friends/Squad members filed a lawsuit against her mother and her partner for abuse. As explored in Netflix’s ‘Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing,’ they actually alleged that Tiffany Smith and Hunter Hill took advantage of their dreams and innocence for their own benefit and that of Piper. They even claimed they believe the former is the mastermind behind it all, with the latter most likely following suit, yet no one knows precisely where he stands in this complex ordeal.
Hunter Hill is a Comic Turned Social Media Whiz
Although he hails from a loving Christian household, Hunter Hill’s childhood was far from easy, fair, or ordinary since he never had a father figure. Born on November 21, 1996, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, he and his brother were raised by their single mother. Even when she had to work 7 days a week just to put food on the table and make ends meet, she was always there for them. In fact, he has long maintained she is the reason he knows how to dream. His beloved mother has supported and encouraged him every day, including during his Spider-Man, Cowboy, and Skateboarding phases.
That’s how Hunter amassed the confidence and courage to step into the world of entertainment as a comic upon completing his education, starting with a profile on Musically. The basketball enthusiast was reportedly not only a part of a collaborative group called #MuserFam, but he subsequently also began posting skits on platforms such as Instagram and YouTube. That’s when his career began taking off, allegedly resulting in him often coming to Los Angeles, California, for meetings and/or conventions, unaware it’s where he’d soon meet the love of his life.
As per reports, it was not long after Tiffany Smith and Piper Rockelle relocated to California from Georgia for the latter’s career that they met Hunter during a convention, just for sparks to fly between the latter and Tiffany. It didn’t matter to the adults that he was merely 20 at the time — there is an age gap of around 15 years between the two — they felt a connection and chose to pursue it without hesitancy. Within a year, he had moved in with the mother-daughter duo and evolved into Piper’s “elder brother” for her YouTube channel, only to then become the full-time Editor, Channel Manager, and Director of the teen and her Squad. He essentially oversaw all their content and progress under the guise of a “friend” despite earning a portion of their profits. It didn’t seem weird to them or viewers as he was so closely connected to Piper.
Hunter Hill Was Allegedly Abusive Towards the Squad
As the man behind the scenes for almost all videos done by The Squad, Hunter had the power to not only tell the teens what to do but also edit them in any particular way if he so pleased. According to the aforementioned original, most former members once believed he only ever put them in uncomfortable situations because it had been ordered by Tiffany, Piper’s momager, to get more views. That’s especially because he always acted as their friend and hung out with them even when the cameras weren’t rolling, as if he truly cared for their overall essence as well as well-being.
However, the accounts of one former member, in particular, have changed a lot of opinions about Hunter, especially as they comprise mental and sexual abuse allegations against him. As per the show, the teen was once allegedly cornered and asked by Tiffany if she knew how to give a man oral before the momager suggested she show her by performing it on Hunter, following which both the adults laughed. Furthermore, it has been claimed that whenever a Squad member chose to leave the group, he helped execute a smear campaign against them while also going as far as to report them, limit their ad revenues, and block their reach. He has since even given a testimony wherein he asserted he is an equal in this relationship with Tiffany. While they have had their arguments in the years they have been together, he has never been coerced into anything. In the end, the lawsuit against him and Tiffany was settled for $1.8 million in 2024.
Hunter Hill Continues to Make a Name For Himself on Social Media
While it’s true that Piper’s Squad has fizzled down a lot in the past couple of years, Hunter has remained a significant part of her life as well as her career as an internet personality. This is evident through the fact that he can actually be heard in the background of her most recent YouTube video (posted in December 2024) and some of her recent brand deals. Moreover, and more importantly, it’s imperative to note that he has always maintained his as well as Tiffany’s innocence in all the allegations against them, and Piper has also publicly packed them without hesitancy. In other words, it appears as if the trio share a great bond to this day, all the while residing together in Beverly Hills.
Hunter and Tiffany have never explicitly acknowledged their relationship on any social media platforms or shared the details of their personal life. Yet, it does seem like they are still happily together. The reason behind this could be the background story they had spun while introducing the former to their audience — Piper’s elder brother — but he has since cheekily posted some prank videos that allude to their bond. He once pranked Piper by “legally adopting” her for 24 hours (in November 2022), and he also did a whole video just about flirting with Tiffany to “prank” the teenager (in December 2022).
Hunter does not have a proper schedule for when he posts on his own YouTube channel (launched in 2015), yet he does try to vlog, stream, or share stories whenever he can, and they’re always fun to watch. He did sadly lose the man he considered his dad, his mom’s ex-boyfriend, Matthew “Matt” Beach, unexpectedly in the spring of 2023, but he has since been doing his best to move on while honoring his memories. The animal lover, dog dad, fishing enthusiast, and model honestly appears to be leading his life a bit away from the limelight these days, albeit comfortably, which is all that matters in the long run.
