Netflix’s ‘The Boyfriend’ stands out for allowing its participants the freedom to shape their own journeys. While forming romantic connections is at the heart of the series, living and working together naturally creates space for genuine friendships to develop as well. In season 2, Bomi and Huwei already shared a history, having known each other and briefly dated before the show. This time, however, it was their growing friendship that brought them closer. When asked to choose a partner for a date, Huwei wrote down Bomi’s name, while noting that Izaya seemed firmly paired with William. This raised Bomi’s hopes, but Huwei’s inconsistent behavior soon caused confusion. Matters became more complicated when a new contestant, Ryuki, arrived, and Huwei revealed they had previously gone on a date. This made Bomi realize that this had coincided with the time Huwei had stopped speaking to him, and he did not know where their connection was headed.
Huwei and Bomi Haven’t Publicly Spoken About Their Relationship Yet
Huwei and Bomi have known each other for a long time and have remained part of each other’s lives. Bomi later shared that over the months, Huwei had reached out on special occasions and attempted to start conversations, though he did not always notice or respond at the time. Huwei’s decision to go on a date with Bomi spoke volumes about the place Bomi held in his mind. Even when he appeared uncertain about whom to choose, Bomi was never far from his thoughts. While neither has confirmed that their bond developed into a romantic relationship, they do appear to have maintained a friendship and stayed in touch. Their continued contact suggests a cordial connection, and no further updates have been shared since then.
