Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge,’ a crime action drama, is a sequel that continues the saga of Hamza Ali Mazari, following the events of the 2025 film ‘Dhurandhar.’ It is revealed that Hamza’s real name is Jaskirat Singh Rangi and that he is an Indian agent trained meticulously by Ajay Sanyal of the Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW), the Indian intelligence agency. As Hamza deals with the aftermath of Rehman Dakait’s death, there is a power vacuum in the chaotic streets of Lyari. With Ajay Sanyal eyeing greater targets in Pakistan, Hamza’s most important function is to take control of Lyari and become a major player in the Pakistani underworld.
In the Indian Hindi-language movie, as Hamza’s past as Jaskirat and his future in the gang wars of Lyari converge, the fate of several important individuals in the Pakistani terrorist networks hangs in the balance. Amidst the cacophony of political upheavals, Jameel Jamali, the seemingly unassuming and humorous politician of Lyari, plays a significant role in altering the destinies of those around him. Jameel Jamali’s Discreet Actions Turn the Tides in Favor of Indian Intelligence and Hamza Ali Mazari
Throughout the runtime of ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge,’ the fictional character Jameel Jamali appears in important moments, often observing critical conversations between powerful individuals. His ability to learn secrets, assess threats, and execute plans makes him a dangerous player. Despite his humor-filled exterior, he turns out to be a decisive part of the power puzzle in Lyari. His actions are grounded in practicality and deception, enabling him to outsmart even the most elite power brokers in Pakistan’s political structure. Jameel attends meetings between Major Iqbal, Hamza, and Bade Sahab, aka Dawood Ibrahim. He even influences the decisions of Arshad Pappu to enable Hamza to take over the throne of Lyari in Uzair Baloch’s absence.
As Hamza’s father-in-law, Jameel keeps a close eye on his movements and facilitates his rise within the terror and underworld networks. Besides this, the deceptive politician maintains a connection with leaders at the very top of Pakistan’s political hierarchy. However, Jameel’s most crucial moment in the narrative comes towards the end of the film. It is shockingly revealed that he was sent to Pakistan 45 years ago from India to establish himself as a political leader. Jameel reveals his true identity to Hamza while helping him to fly out of Pakistan after the completion of Hamza’s objective. For more than four decades, Jameel maintains contact with Indian intelligence as he builds his political career in Pakistan. He emerges as a handler for R&AW and even communicates important information to Ajay Sanyal in secret.
Jameel is instrumental in poisoning Dawood Ibrahim, which ultimately leads to Dawood’s ill health. The politician’s incredible ability to keep his identity secret allows him to facilitate a major victory for Hamza, R&AW, and Ajay Sanyal. His strategic calculations and perfectly timed acts add to his character’s realism. Since the world of spies is based on secrecy, there is no credible evidence or clues to prove that Jameel is based on a real politician and R&AW agent. It is most likely that his character exists within the narrative purely as a grounded representation of the game of shadows in spycraft and the cost of maintaining a dual identity.
Rakesh Bedi Sheds Light on the Inspirations Behind His Portrayal of Jameel Jamali
Jameel Jamali is brought to life by Rakesh Bedi’s layered performance as the clever politician in ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge.’ In an interview with India Today, Rakesh opened up about the origins of his character in ‘Dhurandhar’ and his efforts to pull it off. He said, “My character is a Pakistani politician. I tried to master his voice too. His mannerisms, not so much, but the work he does.” Rakesh doesn’t reveal the name of the politician who inspired his depiction of Jameel in the films. Since the movie centers on a highly sensitive subject, it is likely that the actor chose to keep the politician’s name anonymous to avoid controversy. Rakesh’s dedication to perfecting the mannerisms and voice of the unnamed Pakistani politician adds an element of authenticity to his interpretation of Jameel in the story.
There have been media speculations that a Pakistani politician named Nabil Gabol may have been the source of inspiration behind Jameel Jamali. Reportedly, Nabil spoke to the media in Pakistan about being the basis for Jameel’s role in ‘Dhurandhar.’ Nabil expressed displeasure with the way Jameel is portrayed. He maintained that the first ‘Dhurandhar’ movie did not show him in an authentic manner. However, Rakesh, in another interview with India Today, opined that his character is not inspired by Nabil Gabol. Speaking about Nabil’s opinions, the actor expressed, “I didn’t portray him at all. I don’t understand why he is identifying himself with the character. I simply adopted a particular look for the role.”
He added, “Perhaps because of the wig and styling he might feel there is a slight resemblance. That’s his interpretation. But there isn’t much we can do about that.” The actor also opined that the movie makers never intended to specifically portray Nabil Gabol. Instead, the character was created by blending traits, speeches, and body language from several Pakistani politicians. Thus, Jameel is essentially an imaginary character grounded in the realism of power, political strategy, and deception.
