When Jeanine Harms disappeared on the night of her date, the entire community was shell-shocked as well as united to do whatever they could to help the authorities find her. However, when the IT employee was nowhere to be found, the investigators treated the case as a homicide. The mysterious case is covered extensively in Investigation Discovery’s ‘The Tech Bro Murders: Silicon Valley Vanishing,’ which also features insightful and emotional interviews with Jeanine’s loved ones and the officials linked to the investigation.
Jeanine Harms Was Married For a Short While Before Her Death
Jesus and Georgette Sanchez welcomed Jeanine Sanchez Harms into their lives on October 6, 1959. As the youngest child of the pair, she was raised with immense love and warmth alongside two brothers, including Wayne Sanchez, in a supportive household in San Jose in Santa Clara County, California. Growing up, Jeanine was quite close to her siblings and parents, a bond that only strengthened as years went by. She was a cheerful and active child who loved to ride bikes and hang out with her friends. She would frequently call her friends over and throw slumber parties. Her kindhearted nature was displayed in how fond she was of animals and would often bring strays to offer shelter. Her vibrant, reliable, and chic personality made her popular among her classmates during her time at Prospect High School, from where she graduated in the late 70s.
Jeanine then enrolled at San Jose State University and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. Soon after, she joined the IT company Amdahl Corp (now a subsidiary of Fujitsu) in Sunnyvale, California. Through her determination and hard work, she went from strength to strength and steadily climbed the ranks in the company. Over the years, she gained more than a decade of experience working at the organization. On the other hand, her personal life also flourished as she found the love of her life in Randy Harms. After they got married, the two settled in the San Jose area in a house they bought together. Sadly, by the turn of the century, the two realized they weren’t compatible as life partners. However, there was no bitterness involved as the two remained friends.
Jeanine Harms Went Missing After a Night Out at a Brewery
Jeanine stayed with her mother and father for a while after her legal separation from Randy. As a temporary arrangement, she then moved in with her best friend of over 20 years, Janice, before securing a place of her own in the quiet neighborhood in Los Gatos months later. By 2001, things were seemingly looking up for the 41-year-old single and independent woman until everything changed on July 27. On that fateful night, Jeanine had been looking forward to catching up with Janice. Post that, she had to meet her date along with a few other friends at the Rock Bottom Brewery in Campbell. Unfortunately, that was the last time anyone had seen her alive. In the following days, her friends and family members tried different avenues to contact her, but to no avail. Her phone was switched off, and no one knew her whereabouts.
On July 30, Jeanine’s loved ones contacted the authorities to perform a welfare check on her home in Los Gatos. Upon their arrival, they spotted her car in the parking spot but couldn’t locate her keys, Nokia phone, or her dark-colored handbag. Her family believes that foul play was involved in Harms’s disappearance. In addition to that, her Persian-style 5 ft × 7 ft red and blue rug and sofa cushions were also nowhere to be seen. Despite no signs of struggle, her family sensed foul play as it was quite uncharacteristic of her to go anywhere without informing anyone. Though the authorities tried their best to find her, their search yielded no positive results. Eventually, she was presumed dead. As of today, Jeanine Harms’ remains haven’t been found.
The Accused Killer Was Killed During a Confrontation With Her Brother
While investigating the disappearance of Jeanine Harms, the authorities interviewed her loved ones and the neighbors in her area. One of them reportedly claimed to have heard a loud noise from her apartment on the night she disappeared and seen a suspect driving away from her house. As the detectives retraced her steps from the night she went missing, they learned that she went to a Campbell bar on a date with Alex Wilson. There, she also met with a man named Maurice Nasmeh. It is alleged that she invited Maurice to her home later that night. During his police interview, the suspect claimed innocence and told them that he left her house between 12:30 and 1 am while she was asleep on her couch.

A couple of years later, a new piece of incriminating evidence against Maurice surfaced as a woman found Jeanine’s Persian rug inside a dumpster near his house. Upon examining the same, the rug’s fibers matched the ones found in Jeanine’s house and in the bed of Maurice’s Jeep Cherokee. Moreover, he matched the description of the suspect fleeing the scene seen by one of the neighbors on the fateful night. Thus, in December 2004, he was finally arrested in connection with the 2001 disappearance and murder of the 41-year-old woman. He was accused of killing her, concealing her remains in the Persian rug, and disposing of them using his vehicle. After spending more than two years behind bars, in June 2007, Maurice was released from prison because the prosecution had some technical problems with retesting the evidence against him.
In the following years, the prosecution tried to refile the case while Maurice remained out of prison. However, in an unexpected turn of events, in January 2011, Jeanine’s brother, Wayne Sanchez, confronted the accused killer at a Red Robin on Saratoga Avenue in San Jose, California, around 9:20 pm. Although Wayne left the shopping center after accusing Maurice of killing his sister, he reportedly returned with a gun. After the accused killer walked out, Wayne allegedly followed him and shot him to death in the parking lot before taking his own life. A few months later, in August, the prosecution pronounced that the forensic tests allegedly proved that Maurice was responsible for Jeanine’s murder.
