Jenn and Kyle Bethune: Where Are Vanlife Vloggers Now?

Netflix’s ‘American Murder: Gabby Petito’ primarily sheds light on the mysterious and devastating murder case of Gabby Petito, who was in the midst of traveling across the country with her fiance, Brian Christopher Laundrie, in their newly purchased van. The three-part docuseries also features a couple of Vanlife bloggers — Jenn and Kyle Bethune. Just when all hope seemed lost when it came to locating Gabby, the couple’s footage while they were driving around Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest came to the police’s rescue as they spotted the missing woman’s van in the area in September 2021.

As soon as Jenn and Kyle spotted the vehicle, they informed the FBI about the same. The footage was then uploaded online, after which a thorough search was conducted with the help of investigators from the National Park Service. The search ultimately led the authorities to the site of Gabby’s remains, which were not far away from the van’s location in the video.

Jenn and Kyle Pulled Through the Toughest of Times and Became an Even More Solid Couple

On the auspicious day of May 27, 2008, Jenn and Kyle Bethune tied the knot and began their new life as a married couple. At the time, the former had a son named Ethan from a previous relationship. Soon after their marriage, the couple welcomed a son into the world and named him Ben. An unfortunate tragedy occurred in the life of the Bethune family on September 16, 2011, when they lost 6-year-old Ethan in a fatal car accident on their way to Disney World. Following the loss, Kyle and Jenn developed mental health issues — depression and PTSD, respectively. In spite of all the bumps in the road, the couple took divorce out of the equation and pulled through by supporting each other in any way possible.

By 2019, they had given birth to two more children, Molly and Eli, and were living in Valrico, Florida, with them and four dogs — Theodore Montgomery Bethune, Eloise, Kevin, and Chico. Despite having everything in their life, the couple was still not content. To change it up, Jenn and Kyle decided to embrace a more nomadic lifestyle by purchasing a bus and traveling the country in it. Thus, they listed their house for sale and bought a 1983 vintage Silver Eagle, naming it Blue Betty. Before leaving their old life behind, Jenn worked as a Pet Stylist at Jenn’s Pup ‘n Suds in Brandon, Florida. After the cases of the COVID-19 pandemic started lessening, they finally hit the road in August 2020.

Jenn and Kyle Bethune Are Planning For a New Adventure

It has been more than four years since Jenn and Kyle Bethune started their Vanlife and began documenting their journey across the country. Operating Being Bethunes, they are now full-time travelers who live on the road with their three children and four dogs. Besides that, Jenn is also a Happiness Coach. Not only do they share the breathtaking landscapes they travel to, but also the challenging experiences they face along the way.

The summer of 2024 was quite eventful and happening for the Vanlife bloggers as they got the opportunity to appear in an episode of ‘Dr. Phil.’ So, they traveled all the way to Dallas, Texas, and shot the episode (aired in September 2024). After the shoot, Jenn and Kyle drove across different states before returning to Dallas for a few days in September to attend the VidSummit 2024. September tends to be difficult for them, especially Jenn, as she lost her first son in the same month several years ago. On his 13th death anniversary, she explained how she cherishes the moments she got to live with him and how the loss has helped her grow in life.

She stated, “…I know that I never would’ve became who I am if I didn’t lose Ethan. The duality in this universe is that two things can be happening at the same time and neither are wrong. I am heartbroken that Ethan isn’t here physically AND I am so grateful for the time he was. Both exist and are happening at the same time because I feel them both, and they’re both okay…” The following month, the Bethune family had a joyful two-week experience at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, where they not only rode in a hot-air balloon but they also socialized and made many new friends.

Having spent over four years driving Blue Betty, the LGBTQ+ allies recently purchased their new bus, Daisy, which was built in Tuscon, Arizona. In January 2025, they finally picked up Daisy and are still in the process of converting it into their new house on the road while exploring new places. Still battling against her PTSD, Jenn has a deep passion for dressing up and doing a photoshoot every now and then against the backdrop of different landscapes. In February 2025, Jenn made an appearance on ‘The Jan Broberg Show,’ where she opened up about her unconventional lifestyle and her way of dealing with grief. From the looks of it, the Vanlife bloggers have been settling into the rugged town of Quartzsite, Arizona, while slowly and steadily making the finishing touches to Daisy.
