Jodie Comer’s ‘The Chain’ Starts Filming in New York in January 2027

Jodie Comer’s next show will bring her to New York. Filming for the HBO limited series ‘The Chain,’ featuring Comer as the lead, will take place across the state starting in January 2027. Based on the bestselling book of the same name by Adrian McKinty, the show is written by Damon Lindelof, Carly Wray, and Breannah Gibson, with Lindelof as the showrunner. Michael Sarnoski has been roped in as a director.

The plot, which will extend the book’s mythos, is as follows: Rachel Klein (Comer) drops her daughter, Kylie, at the bus stop and heads into her day. But a cell phone call from an unknown number changes everything: it’s a woman on the line, informing her that she has Kylie bound and gagged in her back seat, and the only way Rachel will see her again is to follow her instructions exactly: pay a ransom and find another child to abduct. This is no ordinary kidnapping: the caller is a mother herself, whose son has been taken, and if Rachel doesn’t do as she’s told, the boy will die.

Primetime Emmy winner Jodie Comer, known for playing Villanelle in ‘Killing Eve,’ Kate Parks in ‘Doctor Foster,’ and Chloe Gemell in ‘My Mad Fat Diary,’ most recently seen as Araminta in the horror-comedy musical feature ‘Stuffed,’ Sister Brigid in Michael Sarnoski’s ‘The Death of Robin Hood,’ and Isla in Danny Boyle’s ‘28 Years Later.’ Many will recognize her as Millie Rusk from Shawn Levy’s sci-fi comedy movie ‘Free Guy,’ also starring Ryan Reynolds. We will next see her alongside Michael Sheen, Tom Bateman, Patricia Arquette, and Karla Crome in Kenneth Branagh’s psychological thriller feature ‘The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde,’ which is expected to arrive in 2027.
