Juan Guillermo Giraldo is a Music Lover Who Makes Music of His Own
Given Juan Guillermo Giraldo’s fierce support for his daughter, Carolina Giraldo Navarro (stage name, Karol G), it’s no surprise that the man himself also has huge love and respect for the art form. When his daughters were still kids, he used to save his weekends for jamming sessions and shows with his band. During the early years of Karol G’s career, he spent around seven years on the road with her, helping her book shows and performances. He even reportedly helped her write and record music for her earlier records. However, he had always sustained the aspiration of recording and releasing his own music one day.
Eventually, in 2019, Giraldo decided to finally jump into making this dream a reality. That year, he released his first official single, ‘Pa Fuera.’ He even went on to release a music video for the song. Similar to how he had remained a huge supporter of Karol G’s talent, the world-famous musician cheered on her father in this endeavor. In her 2019 concert, El Concierto de Todos, hosted in Medellín, Colombia, she invited her father on the stage as a special guest to cover one of her songs. The following year, he dropped another record, ‘Chao Pues.’ Even though this artistic venture hasn’t yet turned into something substantial, Giraldo continues to revel in his love for music. Often, he can be found putting on public live performances, such as the impromptu one he performed in Buenos Aires in 2024.
Juan Guillermo Giraldo Has Always Been an Avid Supporter of His Daughter’s Career
Juan Guillermo Giraldo has long sported a love for music. As a result, he has always been an eager participant and adamant supporter of his similarly musically-inclined daughter, Karol G. In her teenage years, he helped the budding musician participate in a Colombian singing competition show. Likewise, when Karol G secured a record deal for herself in the mid to late 2000s, Giraldo parted ways with his old job to become his daughter’s manager. He made many sacrifices to support her music career, both emotionally and financially. Reportedly, he sold his car and invested the family savings to help make Karol G’s dreams come true.
Furthermore, Giraldo always believed in Karol G, even when record labels wouldn’t, and traveled with her around Colombia to secure club/festival performances for her. For the same reason, it came as a bit of a shock to the father when the musician momentarily decided to give up on her craft. This drove a wedge between the duo, leading to a couple of months of estrangement. Nonetheless, once she was ready to dive back into pursuing her passion, her father was right there for her. He and Karol G built a home studio, writing and recording music together in the lead up to her 2016 deal with Universal Music Latino. Since then, as the artist’s career has continued to soar to greater and greater heights, Giraldo has remained a reliable force by her side.

Decades into their blissful marriage, Juan Guillermo Giraldo and Martha Navarro’s relationship continues to remain strong as ever. The couple, parents to three daughters, Jessica, Verónica, and Karol, still reside in Colombia, continuing to strengthen their roots in the country while enjoying its beautiful nature. Giraldo, in particular, is a big fan of horse-riding and swimming, eager to test the limits of his skills with such sports. On the other hand, Navarro seems to enjoy sightseeing and spending time with her family. The couple gets to indulge in the latter by showing up around the world to support Karol G’s tours and performances.
Last year, in 2024, when Karol G won her first Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album, Giraldo and Navarro were both by her side for the grand achievement. Earlier, in 2018, when the musician scored her first Latin Grammy, she even brought her father up on the stage with her to share in her win. Similarly, the couple showed their love and support for their daughter by participating in her Netflix documentary. They even attended the project’s premiere in May 2025. Two years ago, in 2023, the couple also became grandparents with the birth of their granddaughter, Sophia. Thus, a close-knit love continues to surround the Giraldo-Navarro clan!
