People often find love in unexpected ways, and finding it on reality TV can be the adventure of a lifetime, especially if it leads to a lifelong partner. Contestants on Netflix’s ‘Love is Blind’ enter the experiment with the hope of forming a genuine connection, though for some, it ends in heartbreak. In Season 9, Kalybriah and Edmond Harvey were searching for someone to share their lives with, and given their similar backgrounds and life experiences, it felt as though they were destined to meet. Their journey wasn’t without challenges, but they were determined to face them together.
Kalybriah and Edmond’s Incompatibility Was Visibly Evident
With his boundless energy and commitment to the process, Edmond Lee Harvey entered the season ready to settle down. Kalybriah first felt drawn to him when they connected over their shared vision of a non-traditional marriage, with a 50/50 partnership that respected her independence and autonomy. When she spoke about her work in the social sector, Edmond revealed that he could relate because he had spent much of his childhood in the foster system. Kalybriah, who grew up in a nonprofit home, felt an immediate relatability to his life. Their conversations about forgiveness and healing from their pasts brought them closer, and she deeply admired Edmond’s vulnerability when he teared up during one of their talks. Their engagement meeting was emotional, with Kalybriah admitting that Edmond wasn’t someone she might have chosen in the outside world. Still, their deep conversations in the pods made her certain about him.
Edmond surprised her with sneakers and matching t-shirts as gifts on their honeymoon, which she loved and saw as a reflection of his lighthearted nature. However, after meeting the other couples, tension arose when Edmond expressed disappointment that they hadn’t been physically intimate with each other. Kalybriah wanted to wait until the wedding and felt he was comparing their relationship to other people. Edmond admitted that he hadn’t been respecting Kalybriah’s boundaries and had often put his own feelings first. Despite the bumps, both were excited to begin their journey together outside the show. One of the most heartwarming moments came when Kalybriah met Edmond’s mother, and the two clicked so much so that his mother even hinted she’d love to have a grandchild soon.
However, tensions resurfaced during a group outing where the contestants tried mechanical bull riding. Edmond commented that another contestant was lucky to hear such sweet things from his partner, which Kalybriah interpreted as him feeling unloved or comparing their relationship to others once again. However, they were able to patch up and both of them promised to do better. It was during a snowmobiling date that the couple had another argument. Kalybriah said that Endmond was being dismissive of her and changed his tone whenever the cameras were around. The next day, he came back to her with a fresh mind and apology, and they confirmed their love for one another again. Finally, when it was time to make a call, Kalybriah said that she was not 100% ready and that Edmond deserved someone who could give him that. Edmond showed grace despite being heartbroken, following which they admitted they would always have love for one another, but it wasn’t enough.
Kalybriah and Edmond Ended Things on a Positive Note
Kalybriah and Edmond’s relationship has shown both promise and tension, with their shared values forming a strong foundation, but their expectations sometimes pulling them in different directions. The disagreement they had during their honeymoon, where Edmond questioned whether being “too nice” was holding him back, seemed to hint at deeper challenges in how they communicate and interpret each other’s needs. Kalybriah’s choice to walk away at the altar appeared sincere, as she admitted to having significant doubts and not wanting to commit to marriage without being fully certain. She later acknowledged feeling guilty for disappointing Edmond, but her mother reassured her that she had made the right decision for herself. Edmond, meanwhile, felt that he had given his best and treated her well, yet he was left feeling alone.
At the reunion, Kalybriah shared that she and Edmond had become close friends and that she still had a lot of love for him. However, she said that after returning home, she began to see a different side of him and often felt unheard. She also claimed that Edmond behaved differently when the cameras were around. While she expressed sympathy for his emotional moments, she felt they were being used as a form of manipulation. Edmond, on the other hand, insisted that his emotions came from a place of love, not manipulation, and that he was simply expressing himself honestly. The two eventually hugged it out, with Edmond saying, “I would never have gotten a woman like you if it weren’t for this experience.” Although romance doesn’t seem to be in the cards for them, their interaction reflected mutual respect and a positive closure to their journey together.
