Kevin Bacon’s ‘Southern Bastards’ Starts Filming in Atlanta This Month

Kevin Bacon will be arriving in the Hollywood of the South this month for the filming of his next show. A new crime drama series titled ‘Southern Bastards’ will be shot in Atlanta, Georgia, from April 15. Erin Kellyman and Tim McGraw are also cast. Matt Olmstead is the showrunner on the Hulu project, Bill Dubuque is the writer, and Reinaldo Marcus Green will direct.

The story is set in Craw County, Alabama. Craw County is the home of Boss BBQ, the state champion Runnin’ Rebs football team, and more bastards than you’ve ever seen; Bastards like Earl Tubb, an angry old man with a very big stick, and Euless Boss, a high school football coach (McGRaw) with no more room in his office for trophies and no more room underneath the bleachers for burying bodies. When Earl (Bacon), a military vet, comes home after 40 years, he finds some family business that still needs settling, and Coach Boss is at the center of it all. But that’s okay. That’s what the big stick is for, after all.

Kevin Bacon’s recent acting credits include Stan Olszewski in Michael J. Weithorn’s rom-com movie ‘The Best You Can,’ opposite Kyra Sedgwick, Peter Kell in Netflix’s dark comedy show ‘Sirens,’ co-starring Julianne Moore, Milly Alcock, and Meghann Fahy, and zombie hunter Hub Halloran in the Prime Video action comedy series ‘The Bondsman.’

Erin Kellyman is known for her performance as Jimmy Ink in the ’28 Years Later’ movies and Karli Morgenthau in Disney+’s ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.’ Her other recent acting outings include Nina in Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Eleanor the Great’ and Winifred in David Lowery’s adventure movie ‘The Green Knight.’ Kellyman is also working with Keira Knightley, Alicia Vikander, and Jamie Dornan in an upcoming comedy movie titled ‘The Worst,’ to be directed by Simon Woods.

Country singer/actor Tim McGraw is best known for playing James Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel series ‘1883,’ Sean Tuohy in the drama ‘The Blind Side,’ Robert “Rob” McLaughlin in ‘Flicka,’ a feature film based on the 1941 children’s novel ‘My Friend Flicka,’ and Aaron Jackson in the action thriller movie ‘The Kingdom.’ He recently voiced Vandran in the Prime Video animated series ‘The Mighty Nein,’ based on the reality show ‘Critical Role.’
