Kevin Ford is set to return to the director’s chair as a feature filmmaker after a brief hiatus! Moviedelic has learned that he will helm ‘May Your Eyes Shine’ next. The movie’s filming will start in Oklahoma on September 30 and conclude on October 16. The plot revolves around a newly sober rock star attempting a comeback, only to be triggered into madness by the ghosts of his past. This descent threatens not only his career but his entire world. Ford also wrote the screenplay.
Ford is best known for shooting and editing Robert Downey Jr.’s Netflix documentary ‘Sr.,’ which explores the life and career of the actor’s father and acclaimed filmmaker, Robert Downey Sr. The director’s upcoming slate also includes the documentary ‘Everything Is Stolen,’ which is described as a bold and experimental collage exploring the life of a young individual who is deliberately letting go of the past to become someone new. His latest work is ‘The Pushback,’ a documentary highlighting the efforts of a diverse group of progressive voices across Texas as they confront and challenge decades of institutional racism.
Ford’s recent credits include ‘Drowned,’ which centers on a struggling playwright who meets an aspiring fashion student just before he is set to leave the City of Angels for a fresh start in New York. As they explore Downtown Los Angeles together over the course of a single day, an immediate and profound connection forms between them. Throughout their journey, they grapple with personal challenges, delving into themes of trust, intimacy, and their search for meaning and belonging in their lives.
Ford also directed the experimental feature-length documentary ‘By the River,’ which follows a young man traveling across the country by train. Throughout his travels, he captures various sounds and records conversations with people he encounters, delving into themes such as life, creativity, and personal growth. The filmmaker previously directed ‘Legs,’ another movie that explores the world of rock stars. The plot centers on a rock star in distress in Hollywood Hills. As Johnson grapples with the need to vanish from the public eye, he finds it challenging to move on due to a lingering romance from his past.
The upcoming biopic ‘Reagan’ will also feature Oklahoma as a key backdrop. ‘American Underdog,’ another underdog story, was filmed in the same state. Other projects shot in the region include ‘Twisters’ and ‘Fancy Dance.’
