Fox’s ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ follows chef Gordon Ramsay as he steps into failing eateries and works to uncover the problems threatening their survival. In season 10, episode 6, titled ‘Boodles Restaurant,’ the focus turns to Boodles Restaurant in Madison Heights, Michigan, a family-owned establishment that serves American cuisine to the community. However, the restaurant’s aging owner has yet to relinquish control of the business to his son. Tensions further arise as the restaurant accumulates a mountain of debt. With the restaurant’s future growing increasingly uncertain, the family reaches out to Gordon, hoping his expertise can help rescue the eatery before it is too late.
Boodles Restaurant Faces an Uncertain Future Amid Family and Financial Struggles
Located in Madison Heights, Michigan, Boodles Restaurant specializes in American cuisine and has remained a family-run establishment for more than four decades. The owner, Bruno Ferguson, opened the restaurant with his wife’s support in 1985. As he grew up, he wanted to travel, which led him to work as a merchant mariner for 25 years. That role prepared him to navigate the challenges of running a restaurant. Furthermore, Bruno also brought years of experience from working at several restaurants in Manhattan, New York. His son, Kevin, grew up working in the restaurant and eventually became the General Manager.

Kevin’s wife, Dana, is also a part of the family business as a Server. The rest of the team includes Head Chef Joseph “Joe” Klimaszewski, Sous Chef Charlie, and the Servers Tiffany, Ruthanna, and Chrissy. However, as Bruno grew older, he became reluctant to hand over the restaurant to his son. The owner felt that Kevin was not ready to take over because running the eatery seven days a week is complex. On the other hand, Dana felt that although Joe initially executed the dishes exceptionally well, he was no longer performing at his best. She also believed Bruno was delaying the transition of ownership.
On the other hand, Kevin felt that it was time for the Boodles Restaurant to be modernized. Meanwhile, the staff expressed that there was no communication between the chefs and the servers. To make matters worse, Bruno continued working in the kitchen by washing dishes and helping in the front of the house. Unfortunately, behind the scenes, the restaurant was burdened with approximately $1.5 million in debt. As the operational problems mounted and the family realized they were running out of options, the owner finally decided to seek help, hoping outside guidance would help save the legacy of his eatery.
Gordon Finds a Dysfunctional Kitchen System During the First Service
When Gordon arrives at Boodles Restaurant, he immediately notices that the establishment looks outdated. After settling in and ordering several dishes, he observes that Kevin is not taking on additional responsibilities and is just helping with bartending duties. Once Gordon’s food arrives, he is disappointed with the dishes, noting that the steak is bland and its sauce is broken. He is left baffled when he discovers Bruno washing dishes in the kitchen. Once the service ends, Gordon gathers the staff and wastes no time in sharing that the food tasted unappetizing and that the team appears to have lost their passion. When Kevin explains that Bruno wants to be helpful but is quite stubborn, the chef quickly reminds him that he must respect his father.

Gordon begins to feel that, despite Bruno’s advancing age, he may be taking on more responsibilities than he should. During a private conversation with the owner, the chef also learns that Bruno is struggling with knee problems and wears knee braces. When Gordon urges him to take a step back, the owner explains that he can only do so once Kevin learns to deal with people properly, so the restaurant can be run seamlessly. Once Bruno leaves, Gordon realizes that the kitchen lacks a proper system, the staff is struggling with basic responsibilities, and the service is “sloppy.” As the next service begins, he asks Kevin to take charge. However, when Kevin insists that he already has too much on his plate, Gordon sees it as an excuse.
In the kitchen, Gordon observes that Joe and Charlie fail to communicate effectively and are unaware of which tables they are preparing dishes for. This confusion creates chaos during the service, leaving several completed dishes sitting on the service until they grow cold. Unable to bear it any longer, Gordon calls Joe and Charlie out, then points out that they have been using the same tongs to handle multiple proteins, creating a risk of cross-contamination. Eventually, the chef instructs Dana to close the restaurant for the day and conducts a much-needed discussion with Kevin. Gordon instructs him to become more involved in the back-of-house operations and urges Kevin to step up and take responsibility so he can move the business forward.
Kevin’s Change in Perspective Puts Boodles Restaurant on a Better Path
Gordon once again gathers Kevin, Dana, and the servers to address his concerns about Bruno’s health, especially the toll that the years of working in the restaurant have taken on him. He once again urges Kevin to take charge before it is too late. With that in mind, Gordon gets to work with his team to transform the eatery. His team ultimately transforms the place’s dark atmosphere with modernized decor. The kitchen has also been revamped, with brand-new equipment and systems in place. The incredible transformation leaves the staff completely impressed when the changes are revealed. Gordon then unveils a refreshed menu, including a tableside steak dish that honors Bruno’s legacy.

Simultaneously, Gordon’s team focuses on working closely with Charlie and Joe, helping them establish a proper system in the kitchen and teaching them the importance of communication. When Bruno finally sees the changes, he is left completely emotional. Gordon sits down with the owner once again, asking him to step back and allow Kevin to take the responsibility. After Kevin reassures his father, Bruno realizes that his son now understands his own shortcomings. On the relaunch night, the restaurant quickly fills with customers, putting the newly implemented systems to the test. As the tickets continue trickling in, Gordon instructs the kitchen staff on how to handle the pressure.
Gordon also asks Kevin to step up and help stabilize the back of the house. After a brief setback, the team manages to regain its rhythm. The chef becomes pleased to see that Joe and Charlie are now communicating effectively, while customers begin responding positively to the revamped menu and improved food. As the evening progresses, Gordon once again reminds Kevin that the family can turn the business around if the latter is willing to take on more responsibilities. Seeing the eatery on the right path, Gordon ultimately bids farewell. Four months later, the restaurant is functioning more smoothly, and the new menu is receiving praise. However, Bruno hasn’t completely retired. Instead, Kevin has found a way to share the responsibilities with his father.
Boodles Restaurant is Moving Forward With a Renewed Focus on Food and Entertainment
Following the transformation, Boodles Restaurant has found renewed momentum. It continues to operate at 935 West 11 Mile Road, in Madison Heights, Michigan. The eatery currently maintains an official website, featuring its incredible menu, contact information, and table reservation options. Customers can seamlessly check the menu and use their online delivery service to enjoy their food from the comfort of their homes. Unfortunately, the team faced a heartbreaking loss when Joe unexpectedly passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 57. His untimely death marked the end of a long chapter in the establishment’s history.
Despite the loss, Boodles Restaurant has not stepped back from introducing new experiences for its customers. In February 2026, they hosted a live music night with Juliana and Gabriela Rowe. The eatery has continued to host live music nights on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. By April, they featured Juliana Rowe once again, impressing patrons with her piano and singing skills. In that same month, the team prepared a four-course meal for an event with Herita USA and Great Lakes Wine & Tony. Boodles Restaurant has also introduced recurring dinner promotions, including Comeback Weekly Specials.
In May 2026, Boodles Restaurant promoted a special anniversary menu featuring dishes such as Chicken Parmesan and Shrimp Capatavi. Two months later, the team announced that their Comeback Weekly Specials menu items would end. As of writing, the eatery holds a 4.3-star rating and 767 written reviews on Google. They now also hold a 4.3-star rating on TripAdvisor, where it ranks fifth among 123 eateries in Madison Heights. Most of their reviews praise the friendly staff, delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and live music nights.
