Netflix’s ‘Kohrra’ is a police procedural murder mystery that presents a new case with each season. The second season follows the investigation into the murder of a woman named Preet, who is found dead in the barn outside her house. Police officers Dhanwant Kaur and Amarpal Garundi investigate the case, and with each revelation, a new secret comes to light, which shifts the nature of truth. The six-episode season resolves the mystery of Preet’s murder, but it also leaves enough threads for a follow-up season. So far, Netflix has not confirmed a third season for ‘Kohrra.’ However, given the series’ popularity with critics and viewers, it is likely to receive another season. Given the three-year gap between the first two seasons, we expect that ‘Kohrra’ Season 3 will land sometime in 2028. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Kohrra Season 3 Will Tackle a New Mystery
With each season, ‘Kohrra’ brings a new murder mystery, and the third season will follow suit, presenting the police officers with a new challenge. Since the Punjabi setting remains integral to the show, the next case will also take place in Punjab. However, since the first two seasons take place in different locations, it remains to be seen whether the third season will take the cops to a new town. The change in location for the second season was primarily due to a major shift in one of the main characters’ storylines. A similar reasoning could be used to explain the shift in the next season as well. While it remains to be seen what mystery the police officers will have to tackle next, it is fair to assume that it will reflect social issues that plague society even today.
Complex familial bonds and their influence on the victim and those around them will also be a major theme of the season. In addition, the police officers’ personal lives will remain a central source of drama and conflict in the show. The first two seasons present a shocking dynamic in Amarpal Garundi’s life. The second season ends on a hopeful note, but we have yet to see what the future actually holds for him and his wife, Silky. Similarly, Dhanwant Kaur and her husband also find a way to move forward, but they are still haunted by the grief of losing their son, and a lot still remains unresolved between them. The next season could expand upon that. Additionally, if there is a change in the main cast, we will have completely new dynamics and fresh storylines that will keep the audience on edge.
Kohrra Season 3 Might Bring Back Familiar Faces
With a new mystery to solve in the third season, a new cast of characters is expected to be introduced. A new victim will open the door to new suspects and red herrings, bringing more actors into the universe of ‘Kohrra.’ As is generally the case with shows like these, the core investigative team remains the same. However, ‘Kohrra’ has not restrained itself to that rule. A major change in the second season is that Suvinder Vicky’s Balbir Singh, a main character in Season 1, does not return for the sophomore season. The show’s creators explained that this change happened because Balbir’s storyline was resolved in the first season.
The only character to return is Barun Sobti’s Amarpal Garundi, with Mona Singh’s Dhanwant Kaur joining the case, along with other new actors. The storyline in the third season will determine whether Sobti and Singh, or one of them, reprises their roles in the new season. It depends on whether the writers think there is anything left to add to their personal storylines. If not, the show might shift to a new set of police officers, though they would still need to maintain a connection with the first two seasons, which means that Garundi might appear in some capacity, if not as a main character. All in all, the plot holds the key to the characters’ returns and their eventual fates in the show.
