After her husband and employer found her dead, an investigation was immediately launched, but it would take them more than 20 years to get to the bottom of the case. In the meantime, Leslie’s daughter, Lauren Preer, was hopeful that her mother would get justice someday. Nearly 25 years later, the DNA evidence led to the capture of the killer, whose identity shocked Lauren.

Eugene Teodor Gligor

Born to Leslie Ann Jennings Preer and Carl E. “Sandy” Preer, Lauren Preer was not only relieved after her mother’s killer was finally apprehended after more than two decades, but she was also shocked to learn that it was her ex-boyfriend, Eugene Teodor Gligor, from her teenage years. “It’s been a hell of a day!” she told Fox 5 DC. “He was my ex-boyfriend!” She claimed that she and Eugene resided in the same neighborhood and their families knew one another. Claiming that she saw him at a Washington, DC, restaurant in 2023, she added, “I’ve spoken to him. He didn’t seem weird, and how you could look someone in the eye and know that you committed this crime and act like nothing happened is pretty unreal.”

Lauren Preer is a Doting Cat Mom With a Strong Support System

Just like her professional life, Lauren has managed to build a fulfilling life for herself on the personal front. Having said that, it is imperative to note that she continues to carry the grief of her mother’s tragic demise even after all these years. Though the loss of a mother is a void that can never truly be filled, she has tried her best to move forward by transforming her pain into resilience and grace. By keeping Leslie’s spirit alive in her memories and celebrating her life at every opportunity, Lauren has developed a hopeful outlook towards life. A resident of Fairfax, Virginia, Lauren draws her strength from her beloved family and friends. Her free-spirited and empathetic nature makes her a source of comfort among friends.

Lauren cherishes her connection with her close-knit group of people and always stands beside them through the ups and downs. She particularly looks forward to hanging out with her friends, family, and goddaughter, Bella, whether for lunch, dinner, or a party. The catering professional also believes in giving back to the community and often showcases her support for various causes by sharing fundraisers on her social media profile. From what we can tell, she is leading a great life on her own terms as a fierce, independent woman as of writing. When she’s not working, Lauren loves to slip into her role as a doting cat mom and snuggle up to her cats.
