Lauren Ramos was first introduced in season 1, episode 9 of Lifetime’s ‘The 6000 Lb Diaries With Dr. Now.’ Her battle with weight had begun early in childhood. However, things took a serious turn after her parents divorced when she was in her early teens. Seeking comfort, she turned to food to fill the emotional void. Lauren already weighed 400 lbs when she was 14, and by the time she reached the age of 23, it had gone up to around 600 lbs. Her wake-up call came when a 911 emergency revealed how close she was to losing her life. Lauren Ramos Turned Her Setbacks Into a Success Story With Commitment
When Lauren Ramos first appeared on the show and consulted with Dr. Nowzaradan, she weighed 679.5 lbs. She revealed that walking for a few minutes left her exhausted, and she hadn’t really left her home for 3-4 years. He learned about her 911 emergency when she was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. The doctor gave Lauren a goal to lose 75 lbs in two months through exercise and a 1200-calorie diet. He also set her up with a nutritionist and a therapist to help her address the diet and emotional issues that had led to her weight gain. Dr. Nowzaradan mentioned that if she met her goal, he would approve her for weight loss surgery. Two months later, Lauren discovered she had lost only 41 lbs despite her best efforts.
This brought Lauren’s weight down to 638 lbs. Dr. Nowzaradan then gave her a new goal: lose 50 lbs more within a month. By the third month of her journey, Lauren had brought her weight down to 604.2 lbs. With her progress, she noticed that her stamina was getting better. To her delight, Dr. Nowzaradan approved her for weight loss surgery for the following month. However, he gave Lauren the condition to lose an additional 25 lbs by that time. At the 4-month mark, she underwent a successful weight loss surgery, with her weight down to 581 lbs. Following that, she continued to stay committed. Hence, by the sixth month of her journey, Lauren had reduced her weight to 515 lbs. Altogether, she lost 164 lbs, marking a significant turning point in her life.
Lauren is Rediscovering Her Creative Passion and Growing Her Online Presence
By the time Lauren Ramos graduated from high school, she had already been struggling with weight. Despite her personal goal of helping her family with their business, obesity posed challenges for her to contribute as she wanted. Wanting to create something of her own, she took a leap in June 2020. She started a small business focused on nails, offering extensions and press-on nails through her website. However, the increasing weight began taking a toll on her health. Most recently, in July 2025, a follower asked Lauren whether the nail designs she showcased on her social media were available for purchase. She had responded that although they weren’t for sale at the given time, she had been thinking about reopening her Etsy store.
When Lauren regained her mobility with her weight loss journey, it opened the door for her to achieve a long-held personal goal. During the show, she finally succeeded in helping her family out for an entire workday at their business. Although the reality star has not shared further updates about her professional life since then, she appears to be taking one step at a time. Moreover, Lauren has been relatively consistent about staying active on social media. She has garnered over 7K followers on TikTok and more than 3K followers on Instagram. Across both platforms, Lauren shares everything from her weight loss milestones to fun, lighthearted content that shows her personality.

Most recently, Lauren shared that she has brought her weight down to 447 lbs, a total loss of 307 lbs since she first started her journey.
Lauren’s Life Revolves Around Her Family and Furry Baby
Family has always been at the heart of Lauren’s story, but it wasn’t without any hurdles. Her challenges began when her father and mother, Laura, got divorced when she was 13 years old. Following that, she was living with her mother and her siblings. In those years, Lauren admittedly carried a lot of anger towards her mother, and they did not get along so well. The mother-daughter relationship was strained. When she was 15, Lauren moved in with her grandmother. However, therapy became a turning point in Lauren and Laura’s relationship during her transformative journey on the show.
Lauren opened up about her feelings and even sat down with her mother, asking for forgiveness for the anger she had carried all those years. Laura embraced her with open arms, reassuring her that she will always be her daughter, no matter what. The reality star’s connection with her brother, Laz, is also quite special. Not only did he show up for emotional support, but he has always been present throughout her weight loss journey. Whether it be joining Lauren for her doctor’s appointments or accompanying her on a grocery store trip, which the doctor had encouraged her to do, Laz was there through it all. Her love for her siblings is beyond expression.
During the show, Lauren mentioned how her childhood was one of the best parts of her life as she grew up with her brother and sisters. Even now, they all share an incredible bond. From simple joys, like dancing together, to celebrating holidays like Christmas, family has always remained an anchor in her life.
