Created by Oded Davidoff and Daniel Finkelman, HBO Max’s ‘One Day in October’ is a seven-part anthology biographical drama series that revolves around actual events that transpired on October 7, 2023, during the Hamas-led attack in Israel. The show gives a detailed account of the attacks and the aftermath that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of citizens. In the first episode, the victim mentioned is a 32-year-old man named Lior Weizman, who was killed by the terrorists while he was riding his bicycle.
Lior Weizman Was a Successful Sound Technician in the Film Industry
Born in the early 1990s to a loving setting of parents, Tamar and Baruch, Lior Weizman grew up surrounded by his four older siblings, Ronen, Emmy, Daniela, and Irit. While pursuing a bachelor’s degree in sound and film arts at Sapir College in Sderot, Israel, he reportedly began working in the sound department of the industry. In the early 2010s, he crossed paths with the love of his life, Limor. After dating for a few years, the couple tied the knot in 2015, making their relationship official in the eyes of the law. In the following years, they welcomed their adorable son, Kfir.
Given his undeniable talent as a sound editor and soundtrack designer, Lior got the opportunity to work on multiple projects throughout his career, including ‘Fauda,’ ‘Unorthodox,’ ‘Tehran,’ ‘The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem,’ ‘Mourning in Lod,’ ‘Mossad,’ ‘The Malevolent Bride,’ ‘East Side,’ ‘The Devil’s Confession: The Lost Eichmann Tapes,’ ‘Tzomet Miller,’ and ‘More Than I Deserve.’ Described as a sweet and talented person, Lior was highly passionate about triathlon and running. In fact, he was also an integral member of the Sderot Front Runners group for nearly three years, during which he had participated in multiple competitions under Team Alpha.
After competing in the Ashdod Triathlon, Lior was getting ready to take part in the Half Ironman and Yisraman competitions. Training intensely and regularly, he was looking forward to competing in the Half Ironman on November 3, 2023, and in the Half Yisraman on January 26, 2024. Meanwhile, in October 2023, the 32-year-old sound technician was working on Netflix’s Hebrew-language comedy series titled ‘Bros.’ On the fateful day of October 7, Lior went out for his morning training ride on his bicycle on Highway 34 to prepare for the upcoming Half Ironman competition, when Hamas reportedly attacked multiple areas of Israel with missiles and guns.
Lior Weizman Was Killed While Training for a Triathlon Competition
When the attack began, Lior Weizman reportedly exchanged a few texts with Limor and even sent her a photo of himself lying on the ground, protecting himself with his head on his hands, right next to his bike. At some point in time, he was shot by the terrorists, after which he informed his wife. Worried about him, Limor tried to find him but was reportedly interrupted by the terrorists, forcing her to retreat. Unfortunately, Lior passed away due to gunshot wounds, and his remains were recovered a day later. On October 9, his funeral took place in Sderot.
His passing was acknowledged by several key figures in the production industry across the country. His sister, Daniela Peretz, took to social media to express her pain and grief. She described him as “the salt of the earth, talented and modest. You died as you lived — determined, brave and doing the thing you loved most — sports. And you loved, you loved the way that people don’t even know how to love anymore. Alongside all of the friends and the family who came to honor you today (at his headstone unveiling), I will shout in a loud voice how much you are missed by everyone, forever. Everyone here misses you.”
