‘Ransom Canyon‘ is a romantic western show centered on the lives of three feuding families within a Texas Country Hill town known as Ransom Canyon. The show ends with a heartfelt tribute to Lori Romero, who died in January this year and was an integral member of the hair and makeup department. She was only 62. As a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, she played a pivotal role during the production, which primarily took place in various regions within the state. While the Netflix series captures the feeling of love, mystery, and drama, Lori’s tribute brings a sober and poignant tone to the ending, respectfully remembering a crew member who had a pivotal hand to play during the production process and lighting up the atmosphere on set whenever she was around.
Lori Romero Was a Hair and Makeup Artist Who Passed Away During Ransom Canyon’s Filming
Lori Romero, born on August 10, 1963, was a native and lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM. She was best known for her work as a makeup artist on projects such as Shane Dax Taylor’s ‘The Best Man,’ K. Asher Levin’s comedy mystery ‘Helen’s Dead,’ and Millicent Shelton’s ‘End of the Road.’ She was also a hairstylist on the western ‘The Harder They Fall,’ Mark Anthony Green’s psychological drama ‘Opus,’ Liam Neeson-starrer ‘The Marksman,’ and Ben Smallbone’s crime romance ‘Priceless.’ Her list of credits includes projects that were largely filmed in and around the Burque, which is also the case with her contribution to Netflix’s ‘Ransom Canyon.’ Her high-quality makeup work helped her garner a reputation as one of the best in the business, fast-tracking her career in the movie industry.
On January 1, 2025, Lori passed away unexpectedly while the production for ‘Ransom Canyon’ was still underway. She was known as a friendly and generous soul who always stepped in to help people whenever they called for it. She was gracious to her co-workers, which helped her foster meaningful relationships within a set environment. As such, her film family held immense importance to her. She was also celebrated for her infectious laugh, which could put everyone else in a mirthful mood. According to her obituary, her “most cherished memories were when she was on the back of a Harley with Sam. She had crosses on her walls and God in her heart.” A memorial service was planned for Lori on January 18 at New Beginnings Church of God in Albuquerque.
Lori was survived by her son, Julian Anzures, sister, Annette, and brother-in-law, Martin Costanza. She is also remembered by her brother, Carl; her sister-in-law, Michelle Romero; her nephew, Gabriel Garcia; her niece, Valerie; and her husband, Michael Prudhomme. Thus, her friends and family, who miss her and cherish her positive attitude, are certain to recall Lori’s gratitude for life, which is embodied in abundance through her work.
