Helmed by Roger Kumble, Prime Video’s ‘Love Me Love Me’ follows June on a surprise shift to Milan, Italy, where every corner promises a treasure trove of new experiences. What she doesn’t expect, however, is for her first day at St. Mary’s International School to go horribly wrong, courtesy of one James Hunter. When he is not bossing around at school, he is a reigning amateur MMA champion, and with each passing day, June finds herself helplessly drawn to him. The catch, however, is that James’ best friend, Will, is also infatuated with her, and what this inevitably leads to is a love triangle that is as potent as it is messy.
At the end of this romance drama movie, based on Stefania S.’s Wattpad series of the same name, June, James, and Will all reconcile their differences, and the possibility of a real love story emerges. Although Prime Video has not greenlit a sequel as of writing, in the best-case scenario, fans can expect a sequel sometime around late 2027.
Love Me Love Me 2 Might Reach Further Into Stefania S.’s Wattpad Series
Given that ‘Love Me Love Me’ is an adaptation of Stefania S.’s Wattpad series of the same name, there is a strong chance of the follow-up entries being turned into a sequel movie. The book adapted by the first movie is specifically referred to as ‘Magnetic Hearts,’ and, following that, there are 3 more books in the series as of writing. Part 2, also known as ‘Electric Souls,’ delves much deeper into June and James’ relationship, embracing the will-they-won’t-they style of storytelling that is introduced in Part 1. To that end, it makes most sense for the creators to base ‘Love Me Love Me 2’ around ‘Electric Souls,’ reimagining some parts of the story and fleshing out others along the way.

A major way the film version of ‘Love Me Love Me’ differs from its novel counterpart is that it is much more focused on the main love triangle. The book, on the other hand, takes on a much larger world, full of supporting characters and arcs that tie into the romantic storyline. While we catch a brief glimpse into one of these threads, such as Blaze and Jackson’s love story, most of it is scrapped to redirect the film’s attention to June, James, and William. To that end, a hypothetical sequel can incorporate more of these stories back into the main plot, and potentially also include fan-favourite details from Parts 3 and 4 of the series, namely ‘Endless Love’ and ‘Together Again.’ However, given that the latter two novels take place a bit ahead in the future, how the writers adapt the works remains to be seen.
Love Me Love Me 2 Can Explore More of James’ Family
While the ending of ‘Love Me Love Me’ cannot exactly be categorized as a cliffhanger, it still leaves most of June and James’ budding relationship up to the audience’s imagination. A potential ‘Love Me Love Me 2,’ as such, comes with an opportunity to resume this thrilling love story, and also reevaluate where Will stands in the larger equation. The first movie hints at a particularly troubling past for him, which gives a sequel more room to explore how his relationship with Ari went wrong. Another high school-centric plot point that a second movie can bring into attention is the mysteriously cruel nature of Amelia. Despite coming across as June’s best friend in the making, she is revealed to be the person behind the doctored videos. Although June punches her as punishment in the movie, there is still plenty of room for digging deeper into this dynamic, marking yet another possibility that a sequel movie can engage with.

If there is one thing left unresolved by the time credits roll on ‘Love Me Love Me,’ it’s the fate of Austin and his team. The last we see of him is escaping the crashed car, leaving James behind. That alone is proof of how little he cares about his stepson, and with James realizing that as well, their MMA-betting relationship is likely over. However, that doesn’t mean that Austin is fully out of the picture, as we know that he is still keeping track of June and her mother, and might even harm them out of his petty revenge vendetta. We also know very little about James’ mother, who seems to be the most important person in his life, alongside Will. A potential follow-up movie, as such, can allow for a deeper dive into his side of the family.
