Where is Robert Limon’s Sister Lydia Marrero Now?

When Robert Limon was found shot to death at his workplace on August 17, 2014, it honestly left not just his loved ones but also his entire community baffled to the core. That’s because, as explored in ABC’s ’20/20: Unholy Matrimony,’ while his death could have been assumed as a robbery gone wrong owing to the evidence at the scene, officials knew something was awry and investigated the matter as a true homicide. This led them to his wife, Sabrina Limon, and Jonathan Hearn, her lover, a fact that further broke his family, especially his sister Lydia Marrero, considering how close they all were.

Lydia Marrero Admittedly Shared a Tight-Knit Bond With Her Siblings

Although Lydia has never shared many details regarding her early years or experiences, she has been open about the fact that she grew up in a tight-knit family in Arizona. The fact her father was a railroad worker resulted in them having to move a lot while she was growing up, so she always found a sense of comfort and stability in her siblings. According to reports, she is one of the eldest of five, so while she did feel a sense of responsibility to care for her siblings, she also genuinely enjoyed their company. What no one could have ever imagined, though, was that this would persist even when they all grew up and settled down with families of their own.

It was in 2000 that Lydia’s baby brother Robert tied the knot with the woman he believed to be the love of his life, Sabrina, before settling down with her in Silver Lakes, California. There, they welcomed two adorable children into their world, Robbie (born around 2003), followed by LeAnna (born around 2006), and Lydia was by their side every step of the way. In fact, since she and Sabrina’s elder sister were both reportedly residing in California at the time, they essentially all became a tight-knit extended family. That’s why it was Sabrina’s sister who called Lydia with the terrible news that Robert, who had followed in his father’s footsteps to be a railroad worker, had been shot to death at work. She initially couldn’t believe it, but the truth was hard to deny.

Lydia Marrero Believes Her Ex-Sister-in-Law Had a Hand in Her Brother’s Murder

While Lydia initially didn’t suspect Sabrina in any capacity, once the truth about her open marriage with Robert and her affair with Jonathan Hearn came to light, her perspective shifted. That’s because the evidence, as well as the motive, was right there – Sabrina wasn’t happy in her union, so by removing Robert from the picture for good, she could start anew with the payout from his life insurance policy. Sabrina always maintained that she used the payout to set up college funds for her children, but other pieces of evidence, like her text messages to Jonathan and his later testifying that they had indeed conspired to kill Robert, didn’t help.

Ultimately, in the fall of 2017, Sabrina was convicted of murder and conspiracy to murder in connection with Robert’s death, for which she was later sentenced to 25 years to life plus 16 months. During her sentencing hearing in February 2018, Lydia actually gave a victim impact statement to express her loss, the pain she went through, and everything else she had felt in the past few years. “No amount of time Sabrina spends in prison will ever bring my brother back,” she said while asking the court to do what was right and hand her down the maximum possible sentence, which they did. As for Jonathan, he was given 25 years and 4 months on the charge of manslaughter in November 2017 despite being the triggerman since he had pleaded guilty.

Lydia Marrero Prefers to Lead a Quiet Life Today

Ever since Robert’s murder case came to a conclusion, Lydia, as well as the rest of his family, has chosen to stay away from the limelight in order to deal with their pain and grief privately. Therefore, apart from the fact that she is likely still based in California these days, we sadly don’t know much about her current personal or professional experiences. All we can assume is that the 60-year-old is now doing her best to move forward in life while keeping the memories of her brother alive in her heart.

However, it is imperative to note that Lydia is reportedly no longer in touch with Robert’s kids – her niece and her nephew – because while she wholeheartedly believes in Sabrina’s guilt, they don’t. Robbie and LeAnna even testified for their mother during her trial, which created a big divide between them and their father’s side of the family. Nevertheless, no matter what, we wish all of them the very best for years to come and hope that Robert’s loved ones have since found a sense of closure to ease their grief.
