Created by Gopi Puthran, Netflix’s ‘Mandala Murders‘ chronicles the journey of two police officers, Rea Thomas and Vikram Singh, trying to solve the brutal murders taking place in Charandaspur. As the investigation continues, the duo finds out that a secret society named Aayast Mandal is behind all the slayings, which are a part of a ritual. While they try to solve the case successfully, Rea and Thomas learn about a machine, Aayast Yantra, that grants wishes. However, the wish is granted only if the person offers their right thumb as a sacrifice. As the murders continue to take place, the duo unravels the shocking details about the secret society and who has been running it.
The season ends with the investigators finding that Ananya Bharadwaj, the local politician and Vikram’s friend, is behind the killings and is the current leader of the society. Rea kills Ananya and takes one of the society’s warriors, Moksha, into custody. However, the season ends on a cliffhanger as another Aayasti warrior comes in to set her free. Even though a season 2 isn’t confirmed for the show yet, it might return on Netflix in early 2027 in the event of a renewal.
Mandala Murders Season 2 Will Focus on Moksha Leading the Aayast Mandal
In the final episode of ‘Mandala Murders,’ Rea and Vikram find out that Ananya Bharadwaj is the granddaughter of Rukmini Bharadwaj, who used to lead the Aayast Mandal in the 1950s. As a result, she is currently leading the group and trying to finish what her grandmother couldn’t: the task of bringing Yast into this world. As soon as Rea finds out the truth, she fights one of Aayast Mandal’s warriors, Moksha, who helped Ananya in garnering different body parts for Yast. After a fierce fight, Rea manages to outclass Moksha and reach Ananya, who is about to kill Vikram. However, Rea takes the weapon from her hand and kills her. On top of that, the authorities arrest Moksha and keep her in jail. But someone enters the jail and helps in getting her out.
Now that Moksha’s partner has arrived for her, it seems like she will get a chance to take revenge and lead the Aayast Mandal. If the young woman manages to leave, she could emerge as a central force within the cult. Their leader, Ananya, has died, and there’s no one who could lead the society. Moksha is one of the fiercest warriors they have, and she now understands the pain of losing something that meant so much to her and the clan. Moreover, the trauma of losing again might cause her to have a more radical vision, which can allow her to win over disappointed followers. Thus, the second season will likely see her reclaiming power and possibly taking the Aayast Yantra into her own hands. In doing so, she’ll become a savior for her people and a catastrophe for others. Additionally, she’ll show her menacing strength to make more and more people believe in their god, Yast.
Mandala Murders Season 2 Will See Rea Diving Deeper Into Aayast Mandal’s Mysteries
If things hadn’t already been difficult for Rea to understand, they will become even more so now. When she reaches Charandaspur to solve the murders, she doesn’t know that she will become a part of this twisted web of buried secrets. Now, she knows that the Aayast Yantra was actually created by her grandmother, Nandini. As a result, she becomes an important part of history. In the concluding moments, Rea shares a report about the murders and the Aayast Mandal in front of senior officials, making a promise to herself that she will not sit quietly and find out more about the society. Therefore, the second season is bound to follow Rea diving deeper into this chilling conspiracy. She is no longer just an outsider and has a connection to the origins of the wish-granting device. This makes her story far more complex. In a possible future season, she might go to extreme lengths to find out if any of her other family members were associated with the Mandal. Such a storyline has the potential to scrutinize Rea and her connection to the Aayastis further, on an even more personal level.
As such, fans can expect Rea’s journey in Season 2 to be more thrilling. It will examine how she navigates her responsibility, not just as a CIB officer, but as someone deeply linked to the case. On the other hand, Vikram might have received the answer to the question that brought him back to Charandaspur. His mother is still alive and back with him and his father. Moreover, he got to know who killed Kavita, his girlfriend. However, he is the only person, barring Rea, who knows about Aayast Mandal. So, if Rea thinks of going deeper into this case, she would require Vikram’s help to end the case once and for all. Vikram will be crucial because he had the “blood of a miracle child” and knows exactly what happened in the lab. He and his insights will help the CIB officer in unraveling the Mandal fiasco.
Mandala Murders Season 2 Might Introduce New Characters, While Bringing Back The Old Ones
With Rea Thomas being the heart of the ‘Mandala Murders,’ Vaani Kapoor will be returning to solve more mysteries regarding the Aayast Mandal. On the other hand, Aditi Sudhir Pohankar will return as Moksha, who will be a key player in Season 2 and might lead the secret society. Apart from them, the second season could also mark the return of Vaibhav Raj Gupta as Vikram Singh, Jameel Khan as Jimmy, and Leena Balodi as Maithili, who might be returning for the second season. Alternatively, with Ananya, Kalindi, and Vaitarni dying in Season 1, Surveen Chawla, Piloo Vidyarthi, and Saurabh Dubey are not expected to return.
In their place, the show might introduce some new characters that will bring a lot of drama and add depth to the show’s narrative. The loyalties of the new characters might not be clear, but they’ll bring intrigue to the evolving story. This could be a good thing for Moksha because she’ll need all the support to bring Yast back and revive the Aayast Mandal. Moreover, she is now Rea’s main rival, and a rival is supposed to make things difficult for the protagonist. Thus, with the help of new characters, Moksha’s rise as Rea’s nemesis will raise the emotional and moral stakes of the story.
