Lærke and Alex Find a Way to Give Love a Chance
Alex and Lærke initially try to keep things purely professional. However, their bond deepens as they continue to interact and share their feelings. One night, after putting Agnes to bed, the two of them have a conversation, which leads to them sharing a kiss. But Alex stumbles upon something that challenges their newfound romance. Alex, in the morning, sees Joan’s message to Lærke, which asks if she persuaded Alex to sell. This makes the mango plantation owner think that she is getting intimate with him just for the deal. An argument breaks out between the two, and Alex tells Lærke to leave him and his farm alone. Overwhelmed by sadness, Lærke decided to fly back to Copenhagen. Agnes confronts her mother and says that she loves Alex, but she doesn’t have the courage to accept it.

Back in Copenhagen, Joan tells Lærke that Alex has actually signed the contract and that a hotel will be built after tearing down the mango plantation. Tom, the ex-husband of Lærke, understands the situation and says that the farm cannot be saved if Alex can’t come up with 4.9 million kroner. Agnes shows her mother a model of an environmentally friendly design of a solar-powered community where people can live in small houses. Agnes tells her mother to call Alex and talk about her feelings. Lærke sees the model and thinks of something clever. She plans to go to Málaga again. She tells Joan that she should not build the hotel on the plantation.
The 14-day withdrawal period gives her the chance to save Alex’s farm. She gets fired by Joan for showing empathy for Alex and speaking against the interests of the Weltzer corporation. The mother and daughter go to the mango plantation, where Alex refuses to talk to the former. She says sorry and says that she sold her apartment and borrowed money for the sake of the plantation. This is when it is made clear that Lærke values her love for Alex more than money.

This gives Alex an opportunity to appreciate her selflessness and also realize that she truly loves him. Twelve months later, we see Paula becoming a pilot, and Lærke still at the plantation, in a romantic relationship with Alex. They both kiss, and it is shown that they are building a new community according to the design earlier by Agnes. Ultimately, Alex and Lærke give love a chance and also build a new family for Paula and Agnes. As they continue to work on the farm, they will most likely find happiness and peace.
