Mary Bronaugh to Make Feature Debut With ‘Dog Years’

Mary Bronaugh is set to make her big-screen debut! Moviedelic can disclose that the filmmaker will helm the romantic drama ‘Dog Years,’ her first feature film. The movie starts filming in Providence, Rhode Island, in November 2024. Bronaugh also wrote the screenplay. The project’s cast is currently under wraps.

The plot revolves around two former best friends, Olivia and Liam, who return to their hometown seven years after discovering their feelings for each other. Reunited for a single night, they reexamine their perspectives on adulthood, marriage, and whether they are willing to disrupt their current lives to be together finally.

Bronaugh is known for writing multiple episodes of Disney Channel’s animated series ‘Big City Greens.’ The show follows the adventures of Cricket Green, a country boy adjusting to life in a bustling city after moving from his rural farm. She previously created ‘Ensemble,’ a half-hour comedy about a group of dedicated theater students navigating everything from overbearing directors and backstage mishaps to unexpected friendships and first love.

Currently, Bronaugh is developing an original series with Alcon Entertainment and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh’s Surfing Giant Studios. Furthermore, she has written and directed films with Film Independent and Six Point Harness, and her short film ‘Swearing’ premiered at the Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival. The filmmaker has been recognized by prestigious programs such as the Disney TVA Writing Program and the NBCUniversal Animation Writers Program.

Providence, Rhode Island, is a popular filming spot due to its proximity to New York City. Notable productions shot in the area include ‘Out of the Blue’ and ‘Good Burger 2.’
