Mia Goth’s ‘Fonda’ Starts Filming in France in April

Actress Mia Goth will soon head to France for her next feature. The filming of Justine Triet’s psychological thriller drama ‘Fonda’ will take place in Landes, a department in France’s Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, starting in April this year. The cast also includes Andrew Scott, Allison Janney, Frank Dillane, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett. Triet also wrote the story, which unfolds at a seemingly idyllic house and will take viewers on a vertiginous dive into the shifting limits of a sound mind as grievance and obsession take hold.

Mia Goth earned the title of scream queen due to her performance in the ‘X’ horror film series. We also saw her in Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein,’ ‘Infinity Pool,’ ‘Emma,’ ‘Suspiria,’ and ‘Marrowbone.’ Her performances have made her a trustworthy choice for complex/unhinged characters. Other upcoming projects on her slate are Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ where she plays Odysseus and Penelope’s maid Melantho, and Shawn Levy’s ‘Star Wars: Starfighter.’

Andrew Scott, known by many if not most for his performance as Moriarty in the BBC show ‘Sherlock,’ most recently played Lee Ross in Netflix’s ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.’ Before that, we saw him in the Lorenz Hart biopic ‘Blue Moon,’ the action comedy movie ‘Back in Action,’ and the thriller series ‘Ripley.’

Joining Goth and Scott are Academy-Award-winner Allison Janney (‘The West Wing,’ ‘The Diplomat,’ ‘Palm Royale’), Frank Dillane (‘Urchin,’ ‘Joan,’ Renegade Nell’), and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (‘Down Cemetery Road,’ ‘Black Doves,’ ‘Candyman’).

Justine Triet is an Academy Award-winning French filmmaker who is making her full English-language debut with ‘Fonda.’ She helmed the Palme d’Or recipient ‘Anatomy of a Fall,’ the comedy dramas ‘Sibyl’ and ‘Age of Panic,’ and the rom-com ‘In Bed with Victoria.’

Landes, France, served as the production base for films like ‘The Ties That Bind Us,’ ‘Happening,’ ‘The Animal Kingdom,’ and ‘Visiting Hours.’
