Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry, one of the most steady couples on Hulu’s ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,’ have long appeared strong as a family of five. However, in Season 3, they allowed viewers a closer look at their struggles. The two openly discussed the challenges they’d been facing, attended couples therapy together, and made a conscious effort to keep communication honest and consistent. Even while acknowledging fears and uncertainties about the future, Mikayla and Jace showed they were committed to putting in the work and facing their issues as a team.
Mikayla and Jace Attended Couples’ Therapy to Address Bigger Issues
Mikayla Matthews left home at 15 and moved in with her sister. She went on her first date with Jace Terry at 16, and before they married, she learned she was pregnant. Mikayla has shared that Jace supported her completely during that time and stood by her through every step. They welcomed their first child, Beckham, in July 2017, married in 2018, then expanded their family with their daughter Haven in 2019 and their youngest, Tommie, in 2021. This is how the family of five was introduced in season 1, appearing strong and united through the group’s ups and downs. In season 3, however, Mikayla opened up more deeply about her past, revealing to her friend Mayci Neeley that she had experienced abuse when she was younger and that it had affected intimacy in her marriage.
In therapy, she explained that her trauma had resurfaced over the past six years and created new emotional challenges. Tension rose between her and Jace during the Stagecoach Festival when their plans for a romantic evening fell apart, and the next day Mikayla felt ignored by him. Jace, in a moment of frustration, even suggested they might need a break, but both continued showing up to therapy. During their sessions, they discussed expectations, communication, and the unspoken weight Mikayla had been carrying. Jace emphasized that his anger was toward those who hurt her, not toward her, and expressed pride in the strength she showed. Mikayla also shared parts of her past that she had never told him before. Together, they committed to working through the issues affecting their marriage and taking active steps to reconnect and heal as a team.
Mikayla and Jace are Continuing Their Marriage With Full Commitment
Despite hitting a rough patch during season 3, Mikayla and Jace appear to have come out stronger and remain very much together. In fact, the couple welcomed their fourth child, a daughter named Lottie, in July 2025. Since her arrival, Jace has been as hands-on and attentive as ever, taking care of Mikayla and their growing family with the same devotion viewers first saw in season 1. The pair now proudly present themselves as a family of six and have often shared glimpses of their everyday life through vlogs and social-media content.
From the outside, things seem full of the familiar teamwork that has defined their relationship from the beginning. Of course, like any long-term couple, especially one navigating past trauma, young parenthood, and a public platform, they likely still have difficult conversations behind the scenes. Yet they’ve shown a consistent willingness to work through issues together. Jace proudly lists “husband to Mikayla Matthews” in his bio and often shares how grateful he is for her. In May 2025, he wrote, “Can’t express enough gratitude for my wife! I’m so fortunate to live alongside her and watch her grow and navigate through life with so much integrity, strength, and bravery.” Mikayla, too, has publicly praised him as a supportive partner and father. Their mutual admiration, the way they celebrate each other, and the obvious love they have for their children all indicate that they’ve found their footing again.
Mikayla and Jace Have Their Hands Full With Their New Baby
Mikayla and Jace have been in the public eye ever since they first appeared on the series, and over time, they’ve used that visibility to build a strong presence as digital creators. Their social media platforms now serve as a space where they share family and lifestyle content, and moments from their day-to-day lives. Since the season wrapped, the couple has been focused on settling into life with their newest baby and spending quality time at home in Utah. Even amid the sleepless nights and busy schedules, Mikayla and Jace have continued to share lighthearted, fun moments with their audience.
For Halloween, they dressed up as Serena and Blair from Gossip Girl, posting playful photos and videos that captured their humor and the laughter they brought into their home. Jace has also been actively involved in filming their content. Earlier in the year, the couple took a babymoon to Los Cabos, Mexico, in June 2025. It was a trip made even more special when their close friends Mayci and Jacob Neeley joined them, as they were expecting around the same time. It was a rare chance for both couples to relax, reconnect, and enjoy a peaceful break before welcoming their babies. Now parents of four, Mikayla and Jace certainly have their hands full, but it’s clear they wouldn’t trade this busy, joy-filled season of life for anything else.
