Millie Bobby Brown’s next feature will take her to the Hollywood of the South. The filming of ‘Perfect,’ a biographical drama based on the life of American Olympic Gymnast Kerri Strug, will take place in Atlanta starting in May this year. Ronnie Sandahl wrote the story, with Gia Coppola roped in to direct.

The Netflix movie will tell the true story of Strug’s (Brown) triumph against the odds to bring the USA team, dubbed “the Magnificent Seven,” its first gold medal at the 1996 Olympics. Strug was hailed as an American hero when she completed her final vault at the Atlanta games on a badly injured ankle to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. The image of her landing it perfectly, only for her ankle to give out, and then having her coach carry her off the mat, is considered one of the greatest pictures in Olympic history.
Millie Bobby Brown is a Netflix staple, having starred in a string of projects for the streaming giant, including ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Enola Holmes,’ ‘The Electric State,’ and ‘Damsel.’ Her non-Netflix projects include the ‘Godzilla’ movies and the BBC drama series ‘Intruders.’ She has a list of projects set for the upcoming years. These include ‘Enola Holmes 3,’ ‘Just Picture It,’ a rom-com also starring Margo Martindale and Idina Menzel, and ‘Prism,’ a fantasy horror flick, all three Netflix productions.
Gia Coppola, the granddaughter of legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, directed ‘The Last Showgirl,’ featuring Pamela Anderson as a seasoned showgirl, who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run; ‘Mainstream,’ a comedy starring Andrew Garfield and Maya Hawke; and ‘Palo Alto,’ a drama about adolescent featuring Emma Roberts, Jack Kilmer, and Nat Wolff. She also helmed a couple of episodes of the show ‘Love Advent,’ which featured A-list models and celebrities featured in the LOVE magazine, like Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Gigi Hadid. She also co-directed ‘The Seven Faces of Jane,’ which follows a woman’s experiences in romance, comedy, tragedy, and crisis, with 7 other directors.
