Mitchell Halderson: Where is Chandler Halderson’s Brother Now?

The quaint community of Windsor, Wisconsin, was disturbed when a happy couple, Bart and Krista Halderson, disappeared from their house over the Fourth of July weekend in 2021. With the investigation revealing the involvement of Chandler, one of their sons, in their gruesome murders, their other son, Mitchell Halderson, was distraught as he not only lost his parents but also his brother. In CBS’ ’48 Hours: The Snapchat Clue’ and ABC’s ’20/20: Road Map To Murder,’ the focus is on the two homicides and the lies that Chandler had woven to make them feel proud of him. Both documentaries also feature in-depth interviews with loved ones of the deceased and officials connected to the investigation.

Mitchell Halderson Testified at His Brother’s Trial

Bart and Krista Halderson’s marital union led them to welcome two sons into the world — Mitchell and Chandler Halderson. In the summer of 2021, the Halderson household was leading a peaceful life in Windsor, Wisconsin, when a tragedy tore the family apart. At the time, Mitchell was engaged to be married to the woman of his dreams. When his parents disappeared out of the blue, he was heavily involved in the investigation. Since Chandler claimed that they had gone to the family cabin up north for the 4th of July weekend, Mitchell drove down there to look for them, along with the detectives.

Although there was no sign of his parents at the cabin, the investigation eventually led the authorities to their remains, found in separate locations. Mitchell was devastated and heartbroken, but he received the shock of his life when his brother, Chandler Halderson, was tied to the killings of Bart and Krista Halderson. In January 2022, when Chandler stood trial for the two murders, Mitchell was not only in attendance but also served as a witness.

During his statement, he claimed that he started getting worried about his parents when Chandler acted concerned. Testifying that it wasn’t like his parents to go up to the cabin without informing him, he stated, “My mom would reach out any chance she could, so she would’ve told me.” When the prosecution asked him to reveal the life insurance policies, he claimed that he and his brother were in line to receive around $1 million after their passing. He got closure and a sense of justice when Chandler was finally convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Mitchell Halderson is Still Employed in the Tech Industry

After graduating from Plymouth Comprehensive High School in 2014, Mitchell Halderson attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he majored in Statistics. Meanwhile, from 2012 to 2016, he served as an Information Technology Assistant at Plymouth Joint School District. While attending college, he also interned at Quartz Health Solutions for the Data Analytics department. With a Bachelor’s degree and several years of experience under his belt, he landed a job at Epic Systems Corp. and fulfilled the role of a Technical Problem Solver.

After working there for four years, Mitchell switched to Incisive Consultants, where he was contractually employed as a Consultant from October 2023 to November 2024. As of today, he has been working as a Senior Information Technology Analyst at Gundersen Health System since November 2024. Being a first-hand witness to everything that transpired between his deceased parents and his brother, Mitchell has had a lot to deal with. It seems that certain aspects of his personal life were deeply affected due to the tragedy. Although he has kept most of the things out of the limelight, we can tell that he is a proud dog father to Chloe, whom he adores.
