After the horrific and untimely death of Mollie Tibbetts in July 2018, grief took over the lives of her loved ones, especially her parents — Rob Tibbetts and Laura Calderwood — and her then-boyfriend, Dalton Jack. NBC’s ‘Dateline: The Last Mile’ delves deep into the murder and the investigation that led the authorities to the perpetrator, Cristhian Bahena Rivera. For a short while, Dalton was considered a possible suspect not only because he was the partner of the victim but also due to the fact that he was the last person she had talked to on the fateful evening.
During the killer’s trial, the defense tried their best to pin the blame on Dalton, but the jury was convinced by the evidence presented against Cristhian. When the jury found him guilty of killing Mollie, Rob, Laura, and Dalton were relieved. As a matter of fact, Laura even read out a lengthy and heartfelt statement before the perpetrator was sentenced to life in prison. She went into the details of how difficult dealing with Mollie’s death was for her and her family.
Rob Tibbetts is Leading a Balanced Life With His Loving Wife
Mollie Tibbetts’ father, Rob Tibbetts, went on a separate path after his divorce from Laura Calderwood a few years after the birth of Mollie. With a major in Liberal Arts and Sciences, the University of Iowa graduate worked as an Executive Editor at ACA Journal of Chiropractic from 1988 to 1990. He then switched to Gensler and was employed in the Business Development department for more than seven years. In 1997, he landed a job at HOK’s San Francisco studio, where he has been working as the marketing principal since then. As of today, he is also an integral member of the company’s global marketing board and management committee. Apart from that, Rob is also an active member of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, where he is tied to the Build SF Council and Communications committees.
Making the most of his experience, he actively works with small and local businesses to come up with mentorship programs. Some of the projects that he has been involved in over the years include Salt Lake City International Airport, the San Francisco Public Safety Building, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and The San Francisco Museum at the Mint. When it comes to his personal life, he takes time out to spend with his wife, Kacey Auston-Tibbetts, whom he got married to on June 3, 2018, just a month prior to his daughter’s untimely demise. On his big day, Mollie was his best woman and took part in the celebrations wholeheartedly. Residing in Fresno, California, the married couple share a love for traveling, which recently took them to places like Hawaii, Barcelona, and Madrid.
Laura Calderwood is a Proud Mother Residing in Brooklyn Today
After losing their beloved daughter, Rob and his ex-wife and mother of Mollie, Laura Calderwood, found comfort in their two sons, Jake and Scott. The University of Iowa graduate collects donations for the Mollie Tibbetts fund, which is an initiative to benefit Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Being a doting mother, she stays in close contact with both her sons and celebrates their life achievements. She also has a close-knit bond with her sister, Kim. An avid traveler and nature lover, the Brooklyn, Iowa, resident never misses a chance to explore the outdoors and witness as many sunsets as possible.
Dalton Jack is Now a Happily Married Man
Aside from her parents, the untimely passing of Mollie Cecilia Tibbetts had a devastating impact on her then-boyfriend, Dalton Jack. Since he was not in town that fateful night, a Snapchat message was his last communication with the 20-year-old. Nobody prepares you for a loss this huge, so the young man relied on his loved ones for support as he strived to move on from the tragedy. Today, more than six years after the night that turned his world upside down, it appears that the Grinnell, Iowa native is doing quite well — personally as well as professionally. While he does prefer to keep his private matters hidden from the public eye, and understandably so, we do know that Dalton is now a married man. From what we can tell, Dalton tied the knot with his loving partner, Ruth Hight (now Jack), in a tight-knit ceremony comprising their family and friends in mid-2023.
With good music, food, and jolly vibes all around, their union was blessed by the presence of everyone who matters to them. Ruth is a nursing student pursuing a degree from Chamberlain University. As of today, Dalton and Ruth seem to be enjoying marital bliss in their beautiful home in Des Moines, Iowa, alongside their furry babies. He shares a close bond with his parents, Cynthia Brodie-Jack and Neff, and siblings. Family comes first for the pair, who often hang out with their respective families during the holidays and capture everlasting memories. Taking everything into consideration, it is heartwarming to see Dalton rise above his grief and choose to focus on his own well-being and happiness. Having said that, it goes without saying that Dalton continues to remember Mollie as the bright and free-spirited individual she was, keeping her spirit alive in his heart.
