One of the big mysteries in the inaugural season of Prime Video’s ‘Motorheads‘ is the disappearance of Christian Maddox, the father of twin siblings Zac and Caitlyn. The character goes missing after his involvement in a bank heist that propels his notoriety, making him a wanted man across the country. As the story progresses, we learn the details behind what happened on the day of his disappearance, showing us a broader picture of the events that transpired, even though much of it remains shrouded in darkness. For Zac and Caitlyn, finding answers to their father’s whereabouts is critical to their life mission, compelling them to take any measure possible to feel closer to him in spirit. However, we are still left with several questions about Christian’s current whereabouts and its impact on the narrative as a whole. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Christian Slipped Away From the Authorities Following the Heist
A large chunk of season 1 concentrates on Christian’s story through flashback scenes, detailing how he got interested in street racing and his subsequent involvement in crime. His brother, Logan, played a huge role in inculcating a love for driving, pushing him to his limits on the road. Eventually, Logan realized that Christian’s talents behind the wheel went far beyond the norm, which prompted him to explore other avenues of marketing those abilities. As the Maddox brothers were largely poor and from blue-collar backgrounds, Logan concluded that he could use his brother to make a lot more money. To that end, he got Christian involved in the bank heist, a fact that not many people are aware of. However, it haunts Logan into his adulthood.
After the bank robbery was completed, Christian helped the culprits in question escape in his car. Using his superior driving skills, he managed to slip past all the police roadblocks and barricades, eventually finding a place to lay low while the robbers could make their escape. In the meantime, Christian also absconded with the cash before the cops could stop him. The blame for the event was later attributed to Christian, while the identities of the other robbers remained a secret, including Logan and Ezra’s part in the whole affair. Later, this becomes the epicenter of controversy as Zac, Caitlyn, and Curtis learn the truth about the sins of their father and uncle, illustrating the dark, murky roots keeping them shrouded in the secrets of the past.
Christian Came Back to Collect His Stolen Money
Near the end of season 1, Sam reveals that she, too, had a part to play in Christian’s final moments before he disappeared. She tells Logan that she is responsible for helping Christian hide the bag of stolen money he procured from the heist job. While Logan is surprised by the information, it still does not absolve his guilt. They both decide to dig up where she remembers burying the treasure pot. However, when they arrive at the spot the next night with shovels, they realize that the bag has been emptied. After digging through the soil, Logan finds the bag, only to find out that it contains no money. Instead, a photograph inside shows a child version of him and Christian fishing at Spider Lake, Michigan, which is a possible hint about where to find Christian.
Sam is devastated to learn that Christian may have come back and taken the money with him. She feels betrayed by the fact that he did not consider meeting his family one last time before making his escape. However, it is likely that there is a much bigger conspiracy at play, one that has been keeping Christian away from Sam, Logan, Zac, and Caitlyn. One possible explanation might be that he felt he would put his loved ones’ lives in danger if he made his presence known to them. As he is a wanted man across the nation, it is better for him to stay hidden and keep biding his time before he senses an opportunity to fix the larger issue. Still, this is only one of many explanations that might be plausible for the circumstances surrounding Christian and his family.
Christian is Likely Hiding in Michigan
While we do not learn much about Christian’s current whereabouts in a concrete manner, the first season leaves behind a lot of hints that suggest that the man is alive, well, and in hiding. As far as his current whereabouts are concerned, the Spider Lake, Michigan, address is the likeliest place Christian might be hiding. Considering the photograph he leaves behind in the money bag and other clues spread around the narrative, he is more than likely tucked away in some secluded corner of the lake region. Additionally, the show ends with Caitlyn receiving a call on her phone from an unknown person residing in Spider Lake, Michigan. Although we are not shown the exact details of what happens next, it hints at the fact that Christian is trying to get in touch with his daughter.
Regardless of Christian’s exact location, he will likely play a significant role in season 2, either through appearing physically as a character or continuing to influence the narrative from the shadows. If the former case is valid, then we might see a long-awaited reunion between Christian, Sam, Zac, and Caitlyn. This will likely propel them to seek answers behind his disappearance, which in turn will provide the larger prevailing context surrounding the show’s central mystery thus far.
