Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans’ directorial ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ chronicles a popular girl band with three members, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. They lead a double life as demon hunters, fighting to protect the souls of their fans from demons of the underworld. Unable to match their ferocity on the battlefield, the demons come up with a new plan of forming a rival boy band, called the Saja Boys. Helmed by Jeremy Zag, ‘Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie’ is about two Parisian teenagers, clumsy and socially awkward Marinette Dupain-Cheng, and confidant but emotionally distant Adrien Agreste. They get transformed into the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir, respectively, and are forced to fight Hawk Moth to save their city. Similar to the ‘KPop Demon Hunters,’ Marinette and Adrien are forced to keep their superhero identities secret from the world that they protect. Magic exists in both worlds, as does the concept of the transfer of souls. While the demons in the former movie want to harvest the souls of all humans, Hawk Moth simply desires to reclaim the one he loves.
