‘Musafir Cafe’ tells the story of Chander Sharma, whose quiet life running a cafe in the hills of Mussoorie with his partner, Preeti Kaushik, is overshadowed by a relationship he left behind years earlier. Before building a life with Preeti, Chander shared a profound connection with Sudha Tripathi after meeting her in Bhopal, a bond shaped by love, clashing aspirations, family commitments, and the pressures of growing up. Moving between the past and the present, the narrative follows the turning points that define Chander’s search for love and a place where he truly belongs. As he and Preeti cherish the life they have created together without intending to marry, memories of Sudha continue to linger.

Musafir Cafe is an Establishment That Reflects Chander’s Dreams and Preeti’s Loyalty
Musafir Cafe is a fictional cafe in the mountains of Mussoorie, which is loved by locals and tourists alike. Preeti and Chander run the cafe with passion and even manage to make it popular enough to attract the attention of travel vloggers and the media. The cafe is not only the main setting of the show, but also its beating heart. Though the establishment is an entity in Chander’s present, it has a deep connection to the past as well. Eight years ago, when Chander dreamt of owning a cafe by the mountains, Sudha supported him and even suggested the name “Musafir Cafe,” which translates to “Traveler’s Cafe.” The popular business is a home for travelers, storytellers, and people from different walks of life.
It is more than a spot that serves great coffee, but also a place where people can enjoy the solitude and calming energy of nature. Though it is a profitable business, the cafe is characterized by the humanity behind it and the stories it inspires. The walls, the earthy nature of the exteriors, the sense of community, and the genuine passion behind it make it an entity of true meaning. Chander also uses the cafe as a platform to narrate stories to local kids, inspiring them to find their voices and develop ideas of their own.
The coffee served here also reflects Chander’s character arc, as he has always been a perfectionist when it comes to making coffee taste as authentic as possible. The cafe is a character in itself, observing the changing lives and emotionally complex souls within its walls. Musafir House Artist Residency is Preeti’s Way of Providing Artists a Creative Space
Preeti supports Chander to run the cafe without any issues, but also has her own interests. She wishes to explore her passion for giving budding artists a place to be free, creative, and authentic. Musafir House Artist Residency becomes an extension of the cafe, thanks to the support of Mark, who transfers his homestay near the cafe to Preeti and Chander. The homestay is converted into a residency, making it a unique and nature-friendly space for the development of perspectives. It also serves as a symbol of remembrance for Nilima, Mark’s late partner, who used to run the homestay with him. While the cafe is about bringing people together to have a good time, the residency is a place to find purpose.
The entity appears to be real because of its architecture, cozy setting, and the people behind it. The residency also reflects Preeti’s character development and her choice to pursue her own interests, despite still being an inseparable part of the cafe business. The retreat becomes an integral part of her story, driving her to be more independent and ambitious. Ultimately, Musafir House Artist Residency is more than a physical space, but a deeply meaningful addition to the story, adding more emotional depth.
