Myrla and Gil: Is the Married at First Sight Couple Still Together?

Season 13 of Lifetime’s ‘Married at First Sight’ introduced Myrla Féria and Gil Cuero in pursuit of a partner they could spend the rest of their lives with. The couple faced considerable challenges leading up to Decision Day. When they first met at the altar, Myrla was not attracted to her husband, and the pair went through issues that were deeply rooted in their differing outlooks. While she loved finer things and wanted a lavish lifestyle, Gil was content with decent earnings and a simple life. Irrespective of their differences, they gradually began building genuine connections with each other. Finally, on Decision Day, they ended up defying skeptics by choosing to continue their marriage.

Myrla and Gil Separated Within Just Two Weeks After the Show

Following the conclusion of the season, cracks started forming in Myrla and Gil’s marriage, and it proved challenging to stay together anymore. Eventually, Myrla ended the relationship just 14 days after saying “Yes” on the Decision Day. The two opened up about their split during the ‘MAFS’ reunion in November 2021. In the beginning, it was revealed that the reason for their deciding to go their separate ways was a lack of romantic chemistry and financial compatibility. However, with time, both sides started to spill the beans on what went wrong in their union. Stating he was completely blindsided, Gil expressed, “Obviously, she felt a certain way, and I never knew it. I didn’t know it until it was actually over.”

Gil confessed he had started falling in love and was left heartbroken since he had made significant sacrifices, from ending his lease to selling several things he owned. On the other hand, Myrla also spoke out about how she did not feel safe with him to make joint financial decisions in the future after specific incidents that took place while they were trying to make it work in the real world. Adding to this, she disclosed that her former husband often referred to her as “Debbie Downer,” which eventually started to bother her and was a reason for contention. As of writing, the former couple are no longer involved in each other’s lives and are flourishing in their respective careers.

Myrla has Dabbled Her Feet Into the Influencer World and is an Avid Traveler

In 2009, Myrla started her career as a teacher at La Joya Independent School District and worked there until June 2010. In the same year, she joined Idea Public Schools and impressively rose through her positions from teacher to Principal in December 2014. After working there for seven years and eight months, the Texas native stepped into her role as a Leadership Coach — Senior Cohort Lead at TNTP in March 2018. Over the years, her excellent analytical and management skills, executive leadership abilities, and social influence enabled her to move from strength to strength. After getting bumped up to the positions of Partner and Managing Partner, she ultimately secured the chair of Vice President of the West Consulting Division at TNTP in January 2025.

Myrla also joined the Latino Board Fellowship in May 2024, which helps in supporting and placing Latino leaders in the governing boards of schools and education. In January 2025, she shared her sense of achievement, saying that it marked the 16th year of her career as an educator. Apart from this, the TV star has embraced the role of an influencer and has over 95K followers on Instagram, where she regularly engages with her fans, focusing her content mainly on health and beauty. From providing tips on skin care to sharing her fitness journey, she has been promoting self-awareness and motivating individuals to follow their dreams. She also has her own LTK account and sells her clothing via Poshmark, which acts as her other income avenue. In November 2024, she announced another milestone in her life, disclosing the purchase of her first Duplex. Beyond her professional endeavors, she has been spending her time traveling to several exotic locations.

Since 2021, Myrla has embarked on journeys to the beautiful nations of France, Mexico, Croatia, Netherlands, and many more, making the list of her travels longer. After the show’s conclusion, she adopted her furry baby dog, Porcia, and the two have been inseparable ever since. From doing photoshoots to visiting beaches together, her adorable pup seems to be the current love of her life. The reality TV star is also close to her mother and often draws inspiration from her regarding a career in education. Her life was also followed by tragedy when her father was murdered when Myrla was young, and she often expresses her grief regarding it. The Houston, Texas, resident has also maintained a close bond with her co-stars, Johnny, Rachel, and Brett. As of speaking, she is enjoying her single life to the fullest and achieving milestones with every step.

Gil Has Joined the Navy and Maintains a Prominent Digital Presence

Since Gil’s appearance on the show, he returned to his career as a Firefighter for Houston, Texas. Soon after, he surprised his fans when he took to his social media to announce that he joined the Navy. Moreover, he did not fail to clear up the confusion that he was on military leave and would eventually be back fighting fire. The reality star has gradually gained a massive following on Instagram and has been sharing his travel diaries and providing little peeks into his personal life to his fans. Apart from maintaining his personal Cameo account, he has also been spending his days traveling and soaking up every bit of happiness in his life.

Gil visited the blue beaches of Quintana Roo, Mexico, in 2022, followed by his trips to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the picturesque backdrop of Thailand, and London in 2023 and 2024, respectively. When the TV star is not busy serving his community, he always makes sure to visit his precious family in Columbia. He is extremely close to his mother and often describes her as his source of strength since the loss of his father. He lost his father to a tragic incident of murder when he was only a teenager. In May 2024, he faced another profound loss when his dear-to-heart adorable puppy, Hype, passed away, leaving him behind. From what we know, Gil has been focusing on personal growth and is currently not in any relationship. With openness and enthusiasm, the Columbian native has continued to be an inspiration for his fans.
