Falcon High is the primary backdrop of ‘Nadaaniyan.’ It is a fictional school conceived by the scriptwriters Jehan Handa, Riva Razdan Kapoor, and Ishita Moitra. The school is described as an elite top-tier institute located within the neighborhoods of Delhi. Unlike other Indian schools, Falcon High has no restrictions on uniforms, adopting a more Western approach to education. Students also have their own locker space and engage in club activities, like the debate or cricket teams. As the school is advertised as a prestigious environment open to those from affluent backgrounds, many of the children attending the school hail from rich families. One of the exceptions is Arjun, who gets a spot at the school through merit and a scholarship.
A core conceit of ‘Nadaaniyan’ is its exploration of class divide and social elitism within school circles. These themes are more prevalent in elite top-tier institutions where affluence can be a big contributor to getting a spot. The same is true for Falcon High. The school plays a specific role within the narrative, highlighting the difference in social standing between students and how it can be an essential factor when teenagers socialize with one another. Arjun’s fellow classmates mock him for his middle-class heritage, which is a huge reason why people are unsure about his relationship with Pia. Initially, everyone views their bond as a mismatch, owing to their family’s standing. It serves as a social commentary on people’s biases and perceptions, even regarding adolescent subjects. Still, it remains a fictional institution with no ties to reality.
Jaisingh Mansion Doesn’t Exist in Real Life
Jaisingh Mansion is the name of the estate where Pia’s residence. We learn at the outset that Pia comes from an incredibly wealthy family with a generational law firm business. As such, they have accrued enough wealth over the years to own their palatial properties like the Jaisingh Mansion. Like Falcon High, it is a fictional estate brought to life by the scriptwriters. While it plays a recurring role throughout the narrative, serving as the first place where Pia openly introduces Arjun to her family and friends, the house is ultimately a peripheral addition compared to Falcon High. The film was likely shot on location in Delhi, India, which could also include the scenes featuring the mansion. Despite its enormous size and impressive architecture, Jaisingh Mansion remains completely fictional.
