Despite Tony and Ziva’s attempts to live a normal, danger-free Parisian life, trouble soon finds them early on in the Paramount+ show’ NCIS: Tony & Ziva.’ After leaving behind the life of a federal agent to become a parent to Tali, Tony now runs a private security company. Likewise, his ex Ziva, with whom he co-parents their daughter, is also settling into civilian life, setting up a language school in the city. Nonetheless, once Tony’s high-profile clients at Interpol become victims of a cyberheist, it lands the dangerous 9.4 thumb drive into the former agent’s lap. Thus, his family’s life inevitably turns upside down. As the pair of exes team up to uncover their enemies’ identities, they arrive on the doorstep of a hacker named Boris, who is credited with the partial creation of the savvy program inside the drive. The fact that an earlier cold open showcases Boris waiting on Ziva at the end of a wedding aisle adds further intrigue to his character.
Boris is a Famed Hacker and an Enemy of Tony and Ziva’s Enemies
Boris’ initial introduction into the narrative comes with a glimpse into the future, in which Ziva seems to be walking down an aisle in a wedding dress with the hacker waiting for her on the other side. Naturally, given the nature of her relationship with Tony, as that of ill-fated lovers, this scene gives way to many questions. However, things clear up once the narrative reveals more information about Boris. He is a Russian ex-pat hacker who has been a big name in the game for a long time. Therefore, when Tony and his firm have a run-in with an impressively crafted program that can bypass security walls in any and all systems, Boris remains the first name that comes to anyone’s mind.
Eventually, the cybercriminals, who are apparently led by an Interpol agent leading a double life, end up framing Tony and Ziva as the masterminds behind the former’s crimes. As such, the duo has no choice but to go on the run and investigate the matter, which brings them to Boris. As it turns out, the corrupt Interpol officer, Martine, had reached out to the hacker to commission the creation of the 9.4 program. This means Boris and his ffiancée Fruzsi also earn a target on their backs by Martine and her co-workers at Interpol. Ultimately, this compels the engaged couple to team up with the former federal agents and go into hiding with them. Fortunately, once it becomes evident that they would need a distraction to draw out the mole at Interpol, the couple’s wedding serves as the ideal venue for a bait-and-switch ambush. Thus, the brilliant Russian hacker inadvertently ends up joining forces with Tony, prepared to take down their shared enemy.
Maximilian Osinski Brings Boris to Life in NCIS: Tony & Ziva
Boris remains a compelling addition to the ragtag group of framed fugitives at the center of the narrative in ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva.’ Actor Maximilian Osinski skillfully brings the nuanced character to the screen, breathing life into the hacker’s narratives, which range from introspective and comedic to romantic. The American actor of Polish descent has made a notable name for himself in the realm of television in recent years. His journey began at Park Ridge, Illinois’ Maine East High School, where his drama teacher helped him get into the acting program at Syracuse University. While in university, he studied at Shakespeare Globe Theatre in London, significantly dabbling in theater work.
Osinski made his feature film debut all the way back in 2007 with ‘Running Funny.’ Following that, he made an appearance in numerous other projects, including the 2010 film ‘Love & Other Drugs.’ In 2015, he even became the co-lead in a TV mini-series, ‘Hollywood Hitmen,’ in which he starred alongside Enver Gjokaj. In recent years, Osinski has added beloved TV shows to his filmography, making him a familiar face in the industry. He was in shows like ‘The Last Ship,’ ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ and ‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond.’ However, perhaps his most recognizable role remains his appearance in ‘Ted Lasso’ as Zava, the world-class international footballer. ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ brings another lovable character, adding another exciting title under Osinski’s proverbial belt.
