With Christmas 2006 around the corner, Tammy Myers suddenly vanished from the house she shared with her boyfriend, William Greer. While the entire community was concerned about her whereabouts, her then-7-year-old daughter, Nicki Myers Bates, bore the brunt of the tragedy. CBS’ ’48 Hours: The Day My Mother Vanished’ chronicles the mysterious case of Tammy, with the help of an insightful and emotional interview with Nicki, who talked about the case and investigation from her perspective.
Nicki Myers Bates’ Childhood Was Shaped by the Tragic Loss of Her Mother
Tammy and Ryan Myers formed a romantic bond when they were teenagers. After several years of dating, the latter popped the question to her, and she said “yes.” Over the next few years, the couple became parents to three adorable children — two sons and a daughter named Nicki Myers. Unfortunately, she witnessed her parents’ marriage fall apart as they ultimately got divorced. Not long after, in 2006, Tammy moved in with her new boyfriend, William Greer, in a house in Spring, Texas, where Nicki used to spend her weekends alongside her brothers. She claimed that she had noticed signs of physical abuse on her mother’s body, inflicted by William.
Things got worse around Christmas 2006 as Tammy suddenly went missing. At the time, Nicki was only 7 years old, trying to make sense of the situation. For several years, she would grow up while following the ongoing search and investigation of her mother’s disappearance. When she was 18 years old, the police finally apprehended William in a small town in Mexico for the killing of Tammy. At his sentencing hearing on January 22, 2024, Nicki read out an emotional victim impact statement on behalf of her family. She stated, “She trusted you. We trusted you. …We had to look at the man who murdered our mom, walk around our neighborhood, trying to remember where he put her body. How do you not remember? How has that not eaten at you every day since?”
Nicki continued, “You say you’re a changed man, that you’re a Christian, and if that’s the case, you’ll continue to talk and help us try to find her. You want forgiveness? That’s what I need. I need to know, and I need to find her.” When William was sentenced to 10 years for second-degree manslaughter after pleading guilty under a plea deal, Nicki was not satisfied with his punishment and believed that he deserved a much more serious sentence. Since Tammy’s remains are still undiscovered, she has continued her efforts to search for them.
Nicki Myers Bates Finds Strength in Her Loving Husband and Kids
Despite still harboring pain from her tragic past, Nicki Myers Bates has created a beautiful life centered around three kids and a loving husband. She has been married to Sean Bates for over a year now. However, their love story actually began at least five years ago. While she hasn’t shared the details regarding exactly how and when they met each other and fell in love, it is evident that their connection has only strengthened over time. Apart from his kind personality, his bond with her baby boy, Colt Morgan (born in March 2019), melted her heart, and she knew he was the one for her. On January 1, 2021, amid the backdrop of a tree decked in romantic red and blue lighting, Sean went down on his knees and asked Nicki to be his forever date.
In March 2019, just over a year into their life as fiancés, the two welcomed a new member to the family — an adorable daughter whom they named Bryleigh. With the arrival of their baby girl, Sean and Nicki began preparing for their big day. Ahead of that, they threw a fun-filled bash for her favorite people in Vegas in January 2023. The pair finally tied the knot a month later, in February 2023, surrounded by their friends, family, and kids. They exchanged their vows in the warm presence of the people they love. Sean and Nicki’s intimate wedding ceremony was packed with wholesome tears, wide smiles, dancing on the table, mouthwatering food and drinks, lots of pictures, and good music — exactly how they envisioned it. Together with Colt, Bryleigh, and their eldest son, 12-year-old Delamar, Sean and Nicki have built a home full of laughter, love, and comfort.
Nicki often shares snippets from her life on her social media account. In May 2025, the elated mother-of-three shared that Colt graduated from Kindergarten. From what we can tell, Nicki is leading a comfortable life for which she is extremely grateful. She continues to maintain a close bond with her father, Ryan Myers. While Sean and Nicki have likely faced their fair share of adversities over the years, it is only through mutual respect, trust, deep understanding, and unwavering support that they have navigated many ups and downs life has thrown their way. The family often embarks upon vacation to take a break from routine and create beautiful memories with each other. Aside from that, Nicki and Sean also steal some time for themselves and head out on dates. While her husband and kids are the center of her life, Nicki hasn’t lost touch with her individuality and often nurtures her personal interests by listening to some music or hanging out with her girlfriends.
