‘Nobody 2’ is an action comedy film that chronicles the journey of a former government assassin known as ‘Nobody’ (Bob Odenkirk) going on a well-earned vacation in Plummerville. With its compelling and thrilling narrative, the movie, which serves as a sequel to the 2021 action hit ‘Nobody,’ blends explosive action with family dynamics and sharp wit. Hutch, trying to enjoy the holiday with his family, marks the majority of the narrative, with Plummerville and the resort becoming an essential part of the storyline. The vibrant atmosphere of the resort and the seemingly cheerful town of Plummerville provide a striking contrast to the dark undercurrents of crime.
Nobody 2 Filming Locations
Although the action comedy movie is primarily set in Plummerville, Arkansas, ‘Nobody 2’ is shot entirely in Canada, especially in the province of Manitoba. The principal photography for the Bob Odenkirk starrer began in August 2024 and continued until September of the same year. The stars had a lot of fun shooting the project and bringing the sequel to life. Meanwhile, the cast and crew put in their full effort to make sure everything came together without any problems. Connie Nielsen, who plays the role of Becca Mansell in the film, fell in love with the country while shooting in natural settings and labeled it a “gorgeous country.”
Manitoba, Canada
While the story of Hutch Mansell trying to enjoy his vacation with family is primarily set in the city of Plummerville, the production team of ‘Nobody 2’ decided to keep the base for taping in Manitoba, including the Winnipeg Metropolitan Area. The area served as the primary location for the filming, and the crew shot extensively in and around it. Popularly known as the Gateway to the West, the Winnipeg Metropolitan Area includes Winnipeg, which is the capital city of the province of Manitoba. In reality, Plummerville is a city that is situated in Conway County, Arkansas. However, there are no similarities between the two places. Plummerville is a small town, while Winnipeg is a major city in Canada. The only characteristic these two places share is that they are located at the meeting point of two rivers.
When it comes to shooting, the crew and acting members of the title recorded pivotal sequences in Winnipeg Beach, a town in the Interlake Region of the province mentioned above. The production team reportedly shot there for three days, transforming the area into a carnival scene. As a result, they built a vibrant and colorful carnival setup, festive stalls, and rides to bring the lively atmosphere of Plummerville’s resort town to life on screen. On the other hand, they used parts of Lilac Resort to film some crucial scenes. Located at 37162 Lilac Lane, in Ste. Anne, Manitoba, the family-friendly resort area, was also utilized for parts of the carnival scenes because of its cozy and relaxed environment. Elsewhere, the production crew built a gaming arcade outside Winnipeg and lensed some parts of the film at the location.
Another location used for filming is the Redboine Boat Club in Winnipeg. Situated at 20 Churchill Drive in Winnipeg, the crew used the popular place for taping one of the action sequences, which sees Odenkirk’s character fighting a group of men on a boat. While talking about shooting in the Winnipeg Metropolitan Area, director Timo Tjahjanto didn’t shy away from saying he was initially concerned about taping the project in the place mentioned above. However, ultimately, everything worked out well for him. In an interview, Tjahjanto said, “I was actually concerned in the beginning. Bob had a very specific vision. ‘Nobody 2’ is based on his experience as a child going to the Wisconsin Dells, and that’s a very specific Midwest experience. For a lot of people, Winnipeg can be a very dark and depressing place because of the stark winter, which can be unforgiving, but at the same time, there’s this side of Winnipeg that is very warm and colourful.”
Actor Bob Odenkirk also opened up about his experience while taping in Winnipeg. “It has some really beautiful neighbourhoods… It has a river running through it. It’s sort of a lazy river. I liked it. I liked it in the same way I liked Albuquerque, which is that it takes a little while to get to know it. You have your favourite places, and the people are awesome,” said Odenkirk. Apart from lensing at the aforementioned locations, the cast and crew recorded specific sequences in one of the houses at the Pritchard Farm in East St. Paul. Located at 1 Old Orchard Road in East St. Paul, the quiet neighborhood of Pritchard Farm provided an ideal backdrop for the project, making it feel like a natural fit for the residence of the leading characters.
The Province of Manitoba is a popular destination for filming. The province is known for its film industry, which offers attractive tax credits for production. Additionally, it is famous for giving directors plenty of choices for different settings because of the region’s diverse landscapes. The province is also home to the Manitoba Film Studios, a 65,000 sq. ft. facility located at 47 Gomez Street in Winnipeg. Apart from ‘Nobody 2,’ several high-profile productions such as ‘The Italian Job,’ ‘Love Hurts,‘ ‘Violent Night,‘ ‘Alien Resurrection,‘ ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth,‘ and ‘The Ice Road‘ have been filmed in the area mentioned above.
