‘Osiris’ presents a high-concept premise that puts an abducted team of Special Forces soldiers inside an alien spaceship, where the lethal extraterrestrial life forms are their biggest enemy. The sci-fi horror film, directed by William Kaufman, centers around Michael Kelly of the US Forces, who becomes a victim of alien abduction, along with his entire team, in the middle of a special ops mission. The next thing the soldiers know, they’re waking up inside an alien aircraft after being encased in an inexplicable state of stasis. Fortunately for them, they have their entire packs, complete with loaded firearms, with them. These weapons soon become essential as they rescue a human prisoner, a young woman named Ravi. As it turns out, the unknown space vessel is populated and controlled by alien creatures who seem to have attacked Earth and abducted humans for their own menacing purposes. Despite the maddening odds against their favor, Kelly and his team remain prepared to use any and all knowledge to their advantage and survive the impossible situation. SPOILERS AHEAD!
Osiris Plot Synopsis
Kelly and the other Special Forces soldiers’ story begins while they’re out on a mission in the Middle East. The battle they’re engaged in is intense and even leads to the death of one of their comrades. Surprisingly enough, right as the team finds themselves backed into a corner and contemplating a dangerous Hail Mary solution, an eerie spacecraft descends into the area, bathing the entire place in red. One beam shoots down the soldiers’ enemies while another knocks them unconscious. The next time they wake up, they’re breaking out of a slimy membrane aboard a mysterious spaceship. With many questions, no answers, and their weapons with them, the group decides to go out exploring the ship. Kelly and the others use their military training as a team to their advantage, perpetually on alert about any possible danger.

The claw marks on the peculiar doors between the corridors certainly suggest something menacing is lurking in the shadows. Eventually, after some maneuvers through the vents, the team finds themselves following a trail of blood into a room that contains bloodied and mangled human bodies suspended from the ceiling. In the same room, they also find a young Russian woman, who seems to have been held hostage. Soon after they release her from her bindings, a terrifying monster approaches them, leading to a violent confrontation. Once the monster is defeated, the girl, Ravi, warns the others to run for their lives as other similarly horrifying and armed creatures come after them. In the chase that follows, one of the soldiers, Reyes, loses their life.
As a moment of respite arrives, Kelly and the others learn bits and pieces about the situation through Ravi. As it turns out, the spaceship is crawling with these similar violent and intelligent creatures who are eager to make humans their dinner. Fortunately, the young woman seems to know of a safe space to take the soldiers. On the way, the team runs into more trouble, some unwanted and some invited. By the time they arrive at Ravi’s safehouse, a hiding place found through the garbage chute, another soldier, Jax, dies. Afterward, Kelly and the others meet Anya, Ravi’s mother, who was one of the first humans abducted onto the ship. Apparently, the soldiers had been trapped in the stasis pods for decades, during which the aliens waged and won a war on Earth and are now taking their trophies and livestock back to the planet. However, a few rebellions led by non-sleeper humans have made the journey back home somewhat difficult for the aliens. Thus, in light of the recent death of their team, Anya asks Kelly and his squad to help her defeat the comms room in the ship to ensure the aliens can’t call for more extraterrestrial backup.
Osiris Ending: Do Kelly And Ravi Die?
Kelly and his squad find themselves decades into the future when they break out of the stasis pods. During their unaging sleep, they managed to miss out on the devastatingly short war between humans and the alien creatures who laid ruin to society and civilization on Earth. Now, the creatures are on a journey back to their home planet, having collected everything they deemed important from the other planet. Among their cherished war prizes are hundreds of humans, most of whom are sleepers trapped in stasis. However, some, like Anya, have managed to live freely, if in hiding, inside the spaceship. Furthermore, over the past 20 to 30 years, a handful of new humans have also been born, including Ravi.

Therein comes the one silver lining of the entire situation. Since the journey has been so long and there is a finite number of aliens on the ship, the rebel humans have been able to take a few down over time. Simultaneously, their own number of actual warriors has also dwindled. However, with the fateful awakening of the Special Forces soldiers, Anya’s cause has newfound hope. Initially, their biggest goal remains to ensure this shortage of alien creatures remains. In order to do so, they have to destroy the ship’s communication room so that the creatures wouldn’t be able to contact their friends and replenish their numbers. Yet, the overarching goal remains the same: survival.
Shortly after Kelly and the others agree to help out Anya, they conduct their plan of blowing up the comms room, which goes well enough. Unfortunately, two of the fighters, Rhodie and Anya, end up sacrificing themselves to make sure the others have a fighting chance. Through the blazing firefights and stubborn rebellion, Ravi’s survival becomes a top priority, showcasing her symbolic identity as a source of hope for the human race even in the darkest of times. At one point, Kelly, the young woman’s last defender, finds himself going up against an alien on his own without any firearms. Even unarmed, he manages to put up a fight and ultimately kills the alien by tricking it into entering the doorway and snapping it shut at the opportune moment to guillotine the creature in half. In the end, thanks to the sacrifices of their friends and family, and their own resilience, Ravi and Kelly manage to survive until the very end.
Where are Kelly and Ravi? What is Outside the Spaceship?
Once the aliens on the ship have been defeated, Kelly and Ravi finally find themselves running to the edge of the space vessel. However, what they find on the other side is outside of their wildest dreams. With no more creatures left to play guards, the young woman easily finds herself at a part of the ship she has likely never glimpsed before: the exit hull. Intriguing enough, the exit seems to have bright yellow lighting shining through it. This makes for an uncanny scene, considering space is notoriously darkly lit and spaceships rarely have an open exit while in outer space. Consequently, the surviving duo has no choice but to believe that the ship must have landed somewhere. Once Kelly climbs out of the ship and into the outside world, he realizes exactly what planet he is on: Earth.

Outside the ship, there is a clear view of a post-apocalyptic town with the unmistakable silhouette of the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Therefore, the unnerving reality settles in: the ship has likely never left the planet in the past few decades. While the movie leaves the questions that come with this revelation unanswered, a few discoveries can easily be made. Firstly, it’s likely that the ship is broken in some way or another, which has prevented the aliens from leaving the planet. However, the humans inside the ship remain entirely oblivious to this fact, which adds to the tragedy of their situation. If the fighters like Anya had known there was a way to get off the ship without facing the cold deadness of space, they might have tried to escape. Even so, while there is a habitable home outside the ship, there’s no telling what is really waiting for Kelly and Ravi on the other side. It’s just as likely that the same alien species might overtake the entire planet. Still, ultimately, by escaping the ship, the duo have a chance at survival and building a new, more fulfilling life for themselves.
Who Are the Aliens? What Do They Want From the Humans?
Much like the ending, ‘Osiris’ leaves many details of the narrative ambiguous. In doing so, the film gets to focus solely on its central plot, which revolves around the rebellion against the aliens and the survival of the human warriors. Still, some lore about the strange new world that the soldiers wake up in is revealed throughout the narrative. Most notably, Anya and Ravi’s characters remain pertinent to the development of these details. As it turns out, around 20-30 years ago, a horde of aliens arrived on Planet Earth. The extraterrestrial life made its way to the planet using the map of Osiris. This map was one of the many things included in the 1977 probe that NASA sent out into the universe.

At the time of the probe’s launch, the inclusion of the map garnered much criticism. Many believed putting a map that could lead intelligent life forms to Earth was a dangerous gamble to take since it could attract unwanted attention from a hostile species. Even though these criticisms ultimately amounted to nothing, they were now coming to fruition. As it turns out, the aliens who intercepted the probe and its containing messages have some similarities ot life on Earth. Namely, they can use humans as a food source. Therefore, it doesn’t take them long ot attack the planet with their advanced technology. Prior to the attacks, the creatures abducted the planet’s best war strategists, like Anya.
Afterward, they utilized their advanced technology to delve into the minds of these humans and decipher the battle strategies of the human nations. The war waged between the advanced creatures and humans only lasted for a few weeks. In the aftermath, the aliens are free to plunder Earth for everything they deem worthy. This includes hordes of people. Some of them are kept as livestock, meant to feed the aliens on the spaceship. Likewise, numerous others are being taken to the aliens’ home planet for much the same purpose. Lastly, there are those like Kelly and his team who are frozen in stasis as spoils of the wars, souvenirs, and prizes to be flaunted and preserved. Fortunately for the latter and every other person who has been mind-probed by the aliens, their technology creates a two-way channel. As a result, while the aliens mine memories from their minds, some of their skills accidentally transfer onto the subjects’ brains. This is how Kelly can miraculously speak Russian, Rhodia can use the gun, and Anya can read Alien minds.
