A frequent collaborator of Lifetime will be back with an exciting new project! Moviedelic can reveal that Patricia Frontain’s thriller television film ‘Dead Girl Summer’ is in the works at Lifetime. The project will enter production in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on February 18, 2025. Ashley O’Neil wrote the screenplay.

The plot revolves around the haunting past of Avery and her best friend, Jade, as they return to a place they once vowed to avoid. Years after a tragic incident left a girl dead, Avery has avoided her family’s lakeside vacation home, unable to shake the trauma of what transpired. However, a shocking revelation from a neighboring boy, Will, forces them to return to the town—where the past refuses to stay buried. As they dig deeper, they soon realize their return has set off a sinister chain of events, proving the danger is far greater than they ever imagined.

Frontain is no stranger to the Lifetime. She made her movie directorial debut for the network with ‘Twisted Sister,’ starring Mena Suvari. The director went on to direct ‘Surviving the Sleepover’ and ‘Trapped in the Rocky Mountains’ for Lifetime. Most recently, she helmed the TV movie ‘Murder in Nashville,’ starring Alex Bowling. Beyond directing, she has worked as a script supervisor for decades, contributing to projects such as ‘Chicago P.D.,’ ‘Hold My Horse,’ and ‘Reflections.’ In addition to ‘Dead Girl Summer,’ she is also working on ‘Snatched from the Crib,’ starring Anna Marie Dobbins.

Fayetteville served as the backdrop for notable productions such as ‘True Detective,’ ‘Mindcage,’ and ‘House of Darkness,’ all of which took advantage of its combination of historical and modern settings. More recently, the crime drama ‘Sovereign,’ starring Nick Offerman and Dennis Quaid, was filmed in the region.
