Maude Apatow will head to Hollywood of the South to shoot her directorial debut! The filming of the comedy film ‘Poetic License’ will start in November in Atlanta, Georgia. Maude’s mother, Leslie Mann, headlines the cast, which includes Cooper Hoffman, Nico Parker, and Andrew Barth Feldman. Raffi Donatich marks her feature debut as a screenwriter with the project.
The plot follows Liz, a former therapist and about-to-be empty nester who is forced to re-examine her life after two inseparable best friends and college seniors, Sam and Ari, compete for her affection when she attends their college poetry workshop to audit the same.
Maude is best known for portraying Lexi Howard in HBO’s famed teen drama ‘Euphoria.’ Among her recent notable credits are Henrietta Castello in Netflix’s historical drama ‘Hollywood’ and Claire Carlin in Judd Apatow’s comedy ‘The King of Staten Island.’
Mann is a veteran actress who has done prolific work in comedy. Her latest roles include Lisa in Cooper Raiff’s rom-com ‘Cha Cha Real Smooth,’ starring Dakota Johnson, and Lauren Van Chance in Netflix’s comedy movie ‘The Bubble,’ directed by Judd Apatow, her husband and Maude’s father.
Cooper Hoffman garnered fame and acclaim with his performance as Gary Valentine in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Licorice Pizza.’ He then portrayed Manley Pointer in Ethan Hawke’s ‘Wildcat,’ a biographical drama based on the life of American novelist Flannery O’Connor. His credits also include Dick Ebersol in Jason Reitman’s biographical comedy ‘Saturday Night.’ He was last seen in Simon West’s action comedy ‘Old Guy,’ alongside Christoph Waltz and Lucy Liu.
Feldman’s breakout role was in the comedy film ‘No Hard Feelings,’ starring Jennifer Lawrence. He also starred alongside Hoffman in ‘Saturday Night.’ Parker made her debut as Milly Farrier in Tim Burton’s ‘Dumbo.’ Her notable credits include Sarah Miller in HBO Max’s ‘The Last of Us’ and Doris in Laura Chinn’s ‘Suncoast.’
Atlanta has served as the principal filming location for ‘Saturday Night,’ Amazon Prime Video’s ‘The Idea of You,’ and Netflix’s ‘A Family Affair.’
