As the season progressed, Rachel and Julio faced minor setbacks but always came through. In episode 13, the judges noted how, considering the tough challenge, they were the most collected and far ahead compared to the others. Their teamwork shone the brightest during the Wall Challenge. The duo impressively kept their communication and instincts almost in sync. Eventually, Rachel’s precise handling of the right protein temperature and Julio’s incredible flavors helped them progress to the Semifinals. When the day finally arrived, the pair successfully captured the essence of Gordon’s dish and impressed the entire panel. Ultimately, Rachel and Julio became the first duo to secure a spot in the finale, marking their journey as a big example of unity, strategy, and passion.
Rachel’s Culinary Creativity Led Her to Open Her Own Shop
During their audition, Rachel Sanchez and Julio Figueredo revealed they had left their jobs and even took a loan to compete on the show. Originally from Cuba, her culinary journey began when she watched her grandmother make candies. When she felt that Cuba wouldn’t be a suitable place to advance her career, Rachel immigrated to her current country. She had previously applied to the show but was not selected. However, things changed when she learned that in 2025, the duos could compete. So, she asked Julio to participate alongside her, marking the beginning of another chapter. Before the show, Rachel taught English or French as a second language at Hodges University, and began her career in January 2022 as a Financial Advisor for the United Wealth Education.
In July 2022, Rachel finally launched her own dessert company, NISA Artisan Desserts, and became the CEO. With Julio’s support, she succeeded in beginning her own venture. On her online store, she sells desserts, personalized cakes, and even prepares orders for private events. In December 2022, Rachel moved on from the position of Financial Advisor before transitioning into her position as a Realtor. Besides her shop, Rachel joined Xclusive Homes LLC as a Real Estate Agent in May 2025. Furthermore, she has written the ebook, ‘The Sweet Side of Social Media,’ to guide bakers in digital and business growth. On her Instagram, Rachel currently boasts over 3.7k followers.
Julio Maintains a Thriving Career in the Food Industry Alongside Rachel
Julio Figueredo’s love for cooking came from watching his grandmother, Maria, when he was 6 or 7 years old. Although he initially embarked on a different career path, he eventually found his way back to food. He completed a degree from Culinary School before serving as Cook, Dishwasher, Server, and even General Manager. As of writing, Julio runs a food business alongside Rachel, named The Fiery Cooks, and provides customers with their deliciously made dishes. Individuals can also purchase gift cards directly from their website. He has over 6K followers on his personal Instagram account and has gradually grown his online presence.
Rachel and Julio have turned their immigrant journey into an inspirational story, which has helped them garner over 25K followers on the same platform in their combined account. The pair manages their YouTube channels and often provides reviews for the restaurants they try out. In June 2025, their journey was highlighted by their interview on OnCuba News. Moreover, Rachel and Julio also promote platforms like Acorns and Sam’s Club on their social media. In June 2025, they appeared on an episode of Dinner DeeAs and served dishes like Garlic Shrimp, Creamy Polenta, Spanish Chorizo, and Parmesan Crisps.
Rachel and Julio’s Immigrant Journey Made Their Bond Unbreakable
Rachel and Julio have continued to share their love story most genuinely through food, laughter, and everyday moments captured on their social media. Speaking on the occasion, Julio expressed his feelings towards his partner by writing, “You know, God has a good sense of humor. Only He could put a person in my path that would show me true love, honesty, companionship, loyalty, respect, and a lot of understanding.” It was a declaration of their romantic connection and the strength of their partnership.
Since both Rachel and Julio are immigrants, they admitted that starting their new life was quite challenging. In the initial days, they weren’t fluent in English, but persevered with their resilience, just like they did on the show. By the time they competed, they had already learned how to lean on each other, and the pressures only solidified their bond.
